1973 Triumph TR6 CR – Factory Overdrive – Fully Restored

This exceptional 1973 Triumph TR6 is a particularly special example, being a CR chassis specification car with factory-fitted overdrive and having remained in the same ownership since 1989.

The car was subjected to a comprehensive bare-metal, nut-and-bolt restoration, completed in 1994. This was a no-compromise restoration, carried out to a very high standard and incorporating new Stanpart front and rear wings, together with a complete rebuild of the engine, gearbox and back axle.

Since the restoration was completed, the TR6 has covered just 6,000 miles, and it is testament to the quality of the work undertaken that the car has stood the test of time so exceptionally well. More than 30 years on, every element remains in excellent condition, with the car retaining the presence and character of a beautifully preserved, properly restored TR6.

The CR chassis cars represent an important part of the TR6's development, and the combination of this specification with factory overdrive makes for an especially desirable and usable example. The overdrive provides relaxed cruising when required, while the TR6 retains that wonderfully mechanical and engaging character for which these cars are so highly regarded.

The single ownership since 1989 is another particularly appealing aspect of this car. It has clearly been cherished over a very long period, with only limited mileage accumulated since its restoration and no need for the continual cycle of restoration that many TR6s have experienced.

This is a remarkably well-preserved example of a fully restored TR6, with excellent provenance, a substantial history of restoration and maintenance, and just 6,000 miles covered since the work was completed in 1994.
