The 991-series Carrera S comes fitted with the rear mounted 3.8 litre flat six engine that produces 400bhp & propels the rear wheel drive sportscar to 60mph in under 4.1 seconds & on to a 188mph top speed. The 991 generation 1 cars do not suffer all of the problems of later 991 gen 2 cars, such as turbo/oil supply failures, or earlier 997 generation 1 cars, including IMS bearing failures, RMS leaks & Borescoring, all of these issues were eradicated by Porsche when they designed the all-new direct fuel injection DFI naturally aspirated 911 engines.

The optional PDLS Porsche Dynamic Cornering Bi-Xenon headlights offer exceptional brightness, even in challenging conditions. The light beam pattern actually adjusts from side to side depending on speed and steering wheel movement to light up round a corner increasing your line of sight at night.

Background

Production of the all-new generation 991-series 911 Carrera S began in 2011, it featured a revised 3.8 litre engine with Direct Fuel Injection DFI with increased power/torque, revised suspension system, lighter restyled body, larger air intakes, sculpted LED rear & front daylight running lights, all new Porsche Communication Management PCM 3.1 System with touchscreen, hard drive navigation/music jukebox & Bluetooth audio streaming as well as phone connectivity (as options - fitted to this car). Despite a 100mm longer wheelbase, overall length is only increased by around 40mm & weight is actually reduced by 45kg due to intelligent use of composite alloys that not only add up to 25% rigidity, but reduce weight too. The roofline is actually lower than the previous 997 generation 2, however cabin space has also significantly increased in all dimensions, making this an even more useable, yet stylish, updated 911 with clear classic Porsche lineage.

Exterior

Our hand selected Porsche 911 Carrera S Coupe looks stunning in its gloss coat of Pure White, a striking colour for the 991, especially with the Silver OEM Porsche Motorsport Decals & Satin Platinum Carrera S alloy wheels. The 911 Carrera 4S has been machine polished and Gtechniq Ceramic Coated, which will help protect the paintwork and repel surface contaminants. All the trim has a perfect finish, as do the front and clear rear lights, which are free from any damage or moisture buildup. The windows drop as they should when you open the door. The engine and boot struts also operate as they should. The optional Electric Tilt/Slide Sunroof works perfectly as well.

Interior

The interior look sensational, as it has seats with Houndstooth Cloth in the centre sections on both front & rear seats. The optional 14-way Sports Seats come with lumbar support, knee support, along with optional 3-stage heating. The optional memory system stores the drivers seat position, both mirrors position & steering column position in each of the two original Porsche keys, plus 2 extra profiles accessed on the drivers door panel. An easy access function can also be enabled which moves the seat back & steering wheel up on entry/exit, making it easy to get in and out, even when you are parked in a tight space. The seat & wheel automatically return to their stored positions when you get in & put the key in the ignition. Just like the rest of the Black extended leather interior with silver stitching, they are in excellent condition and provide a perfect contrast to the Pure White bodywork. The optional leather Sport Design Steering Wheel has full-size metal PDK gear shift paddles, allowing quick & effective manual gearshifts on demand. There are no marks or signs of wear to any of the trim, panels or switchgear, with the leather retaining a wholly fresh appearance throughout.

Engine and Transmission

Our 911 Carrera S is equipped with the 3.8 litre flat six DFI engine, which addressed all previous weaknesses of the 996 & 997 first generation engines. The 911 Carrera S engine produces 400bhp & 325ft-lb of torque. The axle load distribution of approximately 40:60 ensures high directional stability & superb road behaviour. The engine starts cleanly when cold or hot, there is no smoke whatsoever either at startup or when driving. There are no unusual sounds or rattles when the engine is running. Our 911 Carrera S is equipped with the highly desired PASM switchable sports suspension system, which includes the dashboard switch that stiffens the suspension in an instant, increasing connection to the road. PASM equipped cars also sit 10mm lower than non PASM cars. The optional 7-speed double-clutch PDK transmission system provides instant changes, unleashing the power of the engine with minimal fuss.

Our 911 Carrera S is equipped with the highly desired Porsche Switchable Exhaust PSE system, which unleashes a more sporty sound both on acceleration and lift off. With SPORT mode enabled, the sound increases further, with pops & crackles when you lift off the throttle.

This 911 Carrera S is factory optioned with the Porsche Torque Vectoring PTV Plus, a system that actively enhances vehicle dynamics & stability. Operating in conjunction with the electronic rear locking differential, it works by braking the rear wheels as the situation demands, to improve steering response & steering precision by specific braking of the right or left rear wheel. To be more precise, this means that when the car is driven assertively into a corner, moderate brake pressure is applied to the inside rear wheel. Consequently, a greater amount of power is distributed to the outside rear wheel, inducing an additional rotational pulse (yaw movement) around the vehicle’s vertical axis. This results in a direct & sporty steering action as the car enters the corner. At high speeds and when accelerating out of corners, the rear differential lock ensures greater driving stability, outstanding traction, as well as greater agility, precise steering, and stable load transfer characteristics. In summary, the 991-series Carrera S offers unrivalled driving pleasure at every twist and turn.

Wheels, Tyres and Brakes

Our 911 Carrera S comes fitted with the 20-inch Carrera S lightweight alloy wheels finished in Satin Platinum with colour Porsche Crests. The wheels are as new, unmarked, free of damage & corrosion. The brakes are phenomenal, with factory Guards Red callipers & PORSCHE lettering in white, cross drilled & vented discs front & rear with plenty of life left in them. The tyres are Porsche N0 rated Pirelli P Zero high performance tyres, with lots of tread remaining.

The car is HPI clear and comes complete with 6 months warranty and roadside/home assistance, which can be extended up to 2 years.
