2004 ASTON MARTIN DB7

A uniquely specified, in (BMW) Steel Blue, low owner and low mileage ‘Collector Grade’ example of the rare, DB7 GT.

Launched by Aston Martin in 2002 and marketed as the ultimate DB7, the DB7 GT featured significant improvements to the standard Vantage powertrain, chassis, brakes, aerodynamics and of course, cosmetics. The GT model is easily differentiated by its unique 18” 5-spoke alloy wheels with low profile tyres, bonnet vents, GT boot lid, unique front grille with GT badging. Inside the GT model featured sport seats, special parchment with white instrument dials and clock, climate control knobs, gear knob, pedals and special sill plaques, all in satin finish aluminium.

Not discussed enough is the performance offered by the DB7 GT. The V12 was tweaked to deliver 435 bhp / 410 lb/ft (an increase from 420 bhp / 400 lb/ft). The suspension was substantially modified and had thus stiffened the chassis by 20%. Special attention was paid to the aerodynamic balance for high speed stability with the adoption of additional sweeps for the undertray, wheel arch liner extensions and a revised boot lid spoiler which emphasises the new look. These additions helped to reduce lift by almost 50%.

The GT featured a free-flowing exhaust with a bypass valve to give an exhaust note just like the V12 Vanquish. The revised quick-shift gear lever on the DB7 GT and racing twin-plate clutch enabled the driver to maximise use of the increase in power and torque and offers a faster gear change than the standard DB7 Vantage. Larger Brembo brake discs and upgraded pads also improved braking performance.

The various performance modifications of the GT allow a top speed of 185 mph with acceleration being much improved and a 0-60mph time of under 5 seconds. These cars feel, and are, quick and rewarding to drive.

Just 191 DB7 GTs were produced, of which 85 were specified in right hand drive. The model has become established as an enthusiasts and collectors favourite.

The excellent example, we are now delighted to offer, is finished in BMW Steel Blue over Ocean Blue hides and carbon fibre veneers. Our research confirms that this car is the only DB7 GT to have been finished in Steel Blue so therefore a ‘one of one’ specification.

In addition to the GT specifications this car is fitted with heated front screen, silver brake calipers, Sports Exhausts and powerfold exterior mirrors. A substantial, leather-bound history file accompanies the car containing all communication regarding the car since one year old.

With just 2 previous owners, this car benefitted from regular servicing at the same Aston Martin main agent from new until 2019. In total this car has received 21 services, with recent maintenance works including various age-related items expected of this model, undertaken at our own workshops. In superb condition throughout and supplied to its new owner with its next scheduled service and our usual pre-delivery preparation, along with 12 months MOT and 12 months warranty.

Recent trends are very clear, the market is extremely enthusiastic about low volume, normally aspirated and manual gearbox cars of this ‘noughties’ era. Arguably overlooked and undervalued, we now recommend that it is time for the DB7 GT model to step into the limelight and this is surely one of the very best examples available.
