2014 FORD C-MAX

THE FAMILY CAR CHECKLIST - 2014 (14) FORD C-MAX 1.6 TDCi 115 TITANIUM X - £3,400 Buying a family car on a sensible budget usually means giving something up. Here is how this one scores, question by question. IS IT BIG ENOUGH? A tall cabin, a raised driving position and three individual rear seats that each fold flat, so it copes with child seats, pushchairs and tip runs alike. The C-MAX is built on the Ford Focus, which is why it drives like a good hatchback rather than a van with windows. WHAT DO YOU GET? Titanium X is the top of the C-MAX range and it shows: panorama glass roof, part-leather trim, heated front seats, Sony DAB navigation with a rear view camera, Bluetooth, climate control, cruise control with speed limiter, heated Quickclear windscreen, bi-xenon headlights, automatic lights and wipers, power fold mirrors and front fog lights. Finished in Panther Black. WHAT WILL IT COST TO RUN? The 1.6 TDCi diesel with a six-speed manual gearbox carries an official combined figure of over 60 mpg, so long runs and school runs are both cheap. WHAT IS ITS HISTORY? HPI clear. 2 former keepers. 97,350 miles, with an MOT mileage record that climbs steadily every year. Four service stamps in the book, starting with the supplying Ford main dealer, the most recent at 78,899 miles. MOT until 15 August 2027. Two keys and the V5 are here. It is in average condition for age and mileage - an honest, used family car, priced accordingly. IS THE PRICE RIGHT? We checked the other 2014 C-MAX Titanium X diesels on AutoTrader at similar mileage. One 21 miles from us is £4,995 at 97,514 miles with a three-month warranty. Another is £3,795 at 94,000 miles.
