2014 MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER

TWO CARS IN ONE, AND ONE OF THEM RUNS ON YOUR HOUSE ELECTRICITY. 2014 (64) Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV GX4h 2.0 automatic 4WD in white with black leather. 112,746 miles, 4 former keepers, 2 keys, HPI clear, £5,700. CAR ONE: THE ELECTRIC ONE Plug it into an ordinary three-pin socket overnight (the charging cable is a standard part of the car) and the school run, the shops and a short commute can be done without starting the engine at all. There is a rapid-charge socket too, for a top-up while you have a coffee. Road tax is £20 a year. CAR TWO: THE PETROL ONE When the battery runs down, or you put your foot down, the 2.0 petrol engine joins in by itself. There is no range anxiety and nothing to plan: drive to Cornwall on petrol exactly as you would in any other automatic. AND IT IS A PROPER 4X4 An electric motor on each axle gives permanent four-wheel drive with a lock mode for grass, mud and snow, in a full-size five-seat family SUV with a big flat boot. THE GX4h IS THE ONE WITH EVERYTHING Full leather with heated front seats, electric glass sunroof, powered tailgate, touchscreen sat nav, reversing camera, DAB radio, Bluetooth, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, keyless entry, xenon headlights, privacy glass and 18-inch alloys. You can even set the heater from a phone app so it is warm and defrosted before you get in. STRAIGHT TALKING The service book has seven Mitsubishi main dealer stamps, every one from new up to 68,615 miles. There are no stamps after that as we believe its been maintained by its former keepers, so we carry out a full service before it leaves us. 12 Months MOT ON SALE. We have not had the drive battery health-tested, so we make no promise on electric range: it was 32 miles on the official test when new and any plug-in hybrid of this age will do less. Come and drive it and judge for yourself. It is in average condition for age and mileage, and the driver's seat bolster shows its miles. HOW IT COMPARES We read the rival adverts before pricing. The two nearest GX4h cars are both in Bolton, at £5,495 with 116,500 miles and £5,990 with 125,000 miles. One is a computer-written paragraph that never mentions servicing, and another local car offers three months of warranty. Ours has fewer miles than either, seven main dealer stamps and the cover below. THREE YEARS, NOT THREE MONTHS This Outlander is TMO Approved and Protected, with our 3-Year Aftercare Package included in the price.
