Porsche 911 SWB 1967 LHD (R – Tribute)
£89,995
Original 1967 Porsche 911 SWB – 2.4 – R Inspired
A fascinating and highly individual 1967 Porsche 911 SWB, chassis 306296, finished in Polo Red with black leatherette interior and its beautiful original-style green instruments.
Originally a ‘dry state’ California car and imported to the UK in 2006, it appears to have been prepared for competition during its American life. While not a factory 911R, it incorporates a number of period lightweight and R-inspired features that give it considerably more character than a standard road-going short wheelbase 911
This car retains its original floor pans which have never been welded, its 1967 chassis identity 306296 appears on both the body stamping and Porsche identification plate.
At the heart of the car is Porsche engine 6221438, identified as a 1972 911E 2.4-litre, with lightweight magnesium crankcase and now running on Italian Weber 40 IDA 3C1 triple carburettors. Factory output for the 2.4E was 165 bhp, and we estimate this car to be around 180-200 bhp making this a substantial performance upgrade over the original 2.0-litre 911 engine.
It retains the desirable dog-leg five-speed 901-type gearbox and features period orange Koni dampers, lightweight composite front bonnet, lightweight 911R-style engine-lid hinges, period-correct Fuchs alloys and a 370mm Momo Prototipo steering wheel.
The result is a wonderfully purposeful early 911 with genuine period character and a specification clearly influenced by Porsche’s lightweight competition philosophy.
Offered with the age-specific 1967 UD registration number.
