Description
2005 Porsche 911 (997.1) Carrera S 3.8 Manual – Black – 119,415 miles
I've owned this 997 Carrera S for the last 10 years and it's been a fantastic car. I'm only selling now because my children have simply got too big for the rear seats, so after a decade of ownership it's finally time for a change.
It's the desirable 3.8-litre naturally aspirated Carrera S with the 6-speed manual gearbox, finished in black with black leather. It has covered 119,415 miles and has been maintained by Porsche specialists during my ownership.
The car drives very well and the engine pulls strongly. It presents really well for a 21-year-old, 119k-mile 911, as hopefully the photographs show.
This isn't being presented as a low-mileage collector's car – it's an honest, usable manual Carrera S that's been with me for a decade and is priced to reflect its mileage and the known items detailed below.
Specification includes:
• 3.8-litre naturally aspirated flat-six
• 6-speed manual gearbox
• Black exterior / black leather interior
• BOSE sound system
• PCM/navigation
• Rear parking sensors
• Carrera S alloy wheels
• Red Porsche brake callipers and drilled discs
• Michelin Pilot Sport tyres
• Upgraded catalytic converters
• Specialist maintenance/history
• MOT until 7 January 2027
The bodywork presents very well overall, with a lovely gloss to the black paint and very presentable wheels. Naturally, given the age and mileage, there are some stone chips, marks and interior wear, all of which I've tried to show honestly in the photographs.
Known items
I want to be completely transparent about the car so that anyone interested knows what they're coming to see.
The engine-management light has remained illuminated since upgraded catalytic converters were fitted, understood to be due to the altered O2 readings. The car has subsequently been through multiple MOTs in this configuration.
There is also an electrical/battery drain which can flatten the battery when the car is left. The PCM/radio currently doesn't switch on and the electric windows can be intermittent.
The driver's door-lock cylinder requires replacement and the air conditioning requires a re gas.
I've taken all of the above into consideration when pricing the car rather than spending money trying to make a 21-year-old 911 perfect before selling it.
After 10 years of ownership, I know the car extremely well and I'm happy to discuss its history, maintenance and the known issues openly with any serious buyer.
For someone looking to get into a manual 3.8 Carrera S and actually use and enjoy it, I think it represents an awful lot of 911 for the money.

Genuine enquiries and inspections welcome. I'm happy to have a proper conversation about the car before anyone travels to view it.
