Description

This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Iconic Sale at the NEC Classic Motor Show 2026 on Saturday the 14th of November, NEC, Birmingham, B40 1NT. Estimated price: GBP 200,000 - GBP 225,000. "The Murciélago embodies the pure, unadulterated values of our brand. It is truly extreme, uncompromising and unmistakably Italian." - the words of Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, in a speech in 2010 outlining the company's future plans and celebrating the end of production of the Murciélago.
The car may have been 'unmistakably Italian' but its name is unmistakably Spanish (Castillian for Bat), and is a continuation of Lamborghini's tradition of naming its cars after legendary figures from the world of bullfighting, 'Murciélago' being the name of a particularly brave animal, who, in 1879, refused to succumb during a long and bloody encounter and displayed such spirit and passion that his life was spared. When Audi purchased Lamborghini, with the help of parent company Volkswagen, many were sceptical how good the subsequent car would be - would the Germans water down the styling, reduce power -tame the wild bull? It can be comfortably said the end result was a perfect blend of Italian styling and German engineering, and even rare still, a reliable, easy to live with Lamborghini.
Introduced in 2001, and in production through a couple of variants until 2010, the Murciélago is an all-wheel drive, mid-engined, supercar that sits less than four feet tall and sports dramatic 'scissor doors'. The power output of the early cars was around 570bhp, delivered through a six-speed manual gearbox with an integral differential driving the rear wheels and a viscous coupling centre differential providing power to the front. The very low-drag bodywork is constructed from carbon fibre, steel and aluminium and the suspension is conventional independent double wishbone.
In 2006, Lamborghini introduced their revised Murciélago, the LP640. Powered by an updated 6.5L V12 engine, the LP640 produced 640hp, thus the name of the car. Featuring various improvements from the earlier car, the LP640 was not only more comfortable, but more capable. The car had an updated interior, as well as great headroom. It also received exterior revisions such as updated front and rear bumpers, and a single trapezoidal exhaust pipe. All of these revisions and updates added up to a more powerful and refined Murciélago, making the LP640 a great example of the Lamborghini flagship. Cars in this market were equipped with a 6-speed "E-Gear" automated manual transmission.
According to the service book, this fabulous car was supplied new by Lamborghini London on the 6th March 2008 before it was shipped to Hong Kong a year later. Serviced by main agent, Lamborghini Hong Kong (stamped as usual as Kingsway Cars Service), the car was repatriated to the UK on 15th October 2025 and re-registered with the DVLA. It's finished in Verde Picus, a uniquely distinct shade that was typically made available as an ultra-exclusive custom order through Lamborghini’s bespoke Ad Personam program. To match the exterior, these bespoke builds featured a Sportivo black leather cabin accented by contrast green stitching paired with Lamborghini’s signature Q-Citura diamond-quilted patterning on the door cards, central armrest, and rear bulkhead enhanced by carbon-fibre trim. The car features an LP670-4 SV body-kit, carbon-fibre-backed SV seats, and a custom exhaust system. Dispatched by our vendor to marque specialists, Simon Furlonger, for servicing and general maintenance, the receipts of which will join the service book, MOT and V5C when the car is presented to our auction. The odometer displayed 19,330 miles at the time of cataloguing.
The Murciélago LP640-4 is one of the most significant and rapidly appreciating modern classic supercars of the analogue era, seamlessly blending traditional Italian V12 drama with precision Audi engineering and this striking right-hand drive example in a very special colour will undoubtedly reward your close inspection.
