Overview
Ask a room full of PHers to pick their favourite M3 and you'll start an argument, but the E92 always scores well. The coupe arrived in September 2007 with a 4.0-litre naturally aspirated V8, individual throttle butterflies and peak power at a spine-tingling 8,300rpm. Throw in a carbon fibre roof and an aluminium powerdome bonnet and it's no wonder many regard it as among the great modern M cars.
This one has the spec to back up the reputation, finished in Interlagos Blue metallic over extended Palladium Silver Novillo leather. That's a striking and less common combination, and we'd happily stare at it all day. It left Eastern BMW in Edinburgh with an on-the-road price of £64,755 once the options were added.
This is a Competition Package car with the seven-speed M DCT, and you get a lower, sharper set-up and those handsome 19-inch alloys. The M Differential can send up to 100 per cent of drive to one rear wheel, handy with 414bhp on tap. With 295lb ft and a 0-62mph time of 4.6 seconds, it's not short of shove.
A Milltek exhaust system has since joined the party, which feels about right for a V8 that loves to rev. It looks the part in the photos too, with a deep gloss to the blue paint, a shiny carbon roof and tidy wheels. Put simply, it's a well-equipped, good-looking V8 M3 that's ready to be enjoyed on your favourite B-road this winter and well beyond.
