This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Classic Sale at the NEC Classic Motor Show 2026 on Sunday the 15th of November, NEC, Birmingham, B40 1NT. Estimated price: GBP 16,000 - GBP 18,000.
Just three previous owners, including the current custodian who has cherished the car since November 1980 – an extraordinary 44 years of continuous ownership.
Supplied new by The Cotswold Service Station, Gloucester on 1st June 1977 to Dr Kenneth Stringer of Stroud, who retained it for three years before its sale through Baytree Garage, Cheltenham, to the present owner at 23,230 miles.
Finished in its original 028 Phoenix Orange with Black/Grey cloth trim, it retains its original 1,573cc four-cylinder engine, four-speed manual gearbox, 13-inch steel wheels and chrome hub caps.
A genuine matching-numbers example, retaining its original registration, TOY 834R, which has accompanied the car from new and forms part of the sale.
The comprehensive history file includes the original handbook pack and manuals, sales literature, contemporary documentation and almost every MOT certificate from new, providing compelling mileage verification.
Maintained for the majority of its life by the same local garage, Pete Edgeworth of Charlton Kings, Cheltenham, further reinforcing its exceptional provenance.
A rarely encountered example of such originality, offering the opportunity to acquire what is believed to be one of the finest unrestored BMW ‘02 Series cars in the UK. Early inspection is encouraged to fully appreciate the opportunity on offer.
