2013 DODGE RAM

There are few American vehicles that inspire quite the same level of affection as the Dodge RAM. Large, imposing and unapologetically American, the RAM has long been regarded by its owners as a remarkably dependable and versatile workhorse, while its combination of presence and V8 character have given it something of a cult following in Britain.

This 2013 RAM 1500 Express 4x2 is an unusually well-preserved example, having been ordered new specifically for its first owner’s exhibition and promotional activities. Manufactured in 2012, it remained with its US dealer for approximately six months before being titled in New York, a period when Dodge would not permit the export of new vehicles directly. The original New York title remains with the vehicle and will accompany it in the sale.

It was ordered from new finished in True Blue Pearl with an interior in Dark Slate and Medium Graystone cloth and the specification was carefully considered from the outset with the shorter, more manageable configuration selected, making it considerably more practical for use in Britain and Europe. The accompanying RAM individual 'spec-sheet' lists the extensive amount of Standard Equipment and also our vendor's chosen options which included the useful RAMBOX system, providing lockable storage compartments integrated into each rear side panel, together with the factory bed divider for organising and securing loads.

Following its arrival in the UK, the RAM underwent IVA approval and was registered here in 2013 with zero miles. It was subsequently converted to run on LPG by a highly regarded specialist in Bristol and formally registered as an LPG vehicle. The 5.7-litre HEMI is particularly well suited to LPG, retaining the effortless torque and characteristic V8 soundtrack while making the running costs of a large-capacity American pick up more manageable. Indeed, its owner reports that it can be remarkably economical to operate in this configuration.

Its use since arriving in Britain has been exceptionally limited, serving principally as a promotional and exhibition vehicle and making an annual journey to Germany for exhibitions. The indicated mileage of 14,070 is entirely genuine, corroborated by the MOT history which confirms the consistent usage, averaging approximately 1,000 miles per year. Importantly, the truck has remained with its single owner from new and, remarkably, he is also the only person to have driven it.

Maintenance has been carried out regardless of cost, with servicing undertaken annually with the sole exception of 2020 during the COVID period. More recently, the original audio system was upgraded to a Pioneer head unit with Apple CarPlay, while the tyres have been replaced with new Yokohamas, which are reported to offer a significant improvement in ride quality.

This is a rare opportunity to secure an imposing and charismatic American V8 pickup that has been specified, maintained and used with considerably more thought than most. It is a genuine one-owner, low mileage example with a carefully considered and usable specification.
