Description
Under the stewardship of Brian Angliss these cars were built by some of the original craftsmen and engineers that had served time at the AC Thames Ditton factory.Fashioned from aluminium on the original 1960’s body jigs and constructed with original tooling these cars were hand built to exacting standards.
Our car was originally supplied in the then standard specification which included fuel injection to meet US emissions, a modern dashboard and 16” wheels.
The fist owner sent the car back to the factory and commissioned works to “back date” the car to 1960’s specification. These works included installation of Holley 4 Barrel carb, engine power upgrade to c350bhp, dashboard removal and replacement with correct MKIII dash and original Cobra wood-rimmed steering wheel. The car was also completely repainted by the factory to its current and period correct Guardsman Blue.
The current and effectively second registered keeper purchased this car in August 2007 when it had covered only 4,500 miles and so has owned it for nearly 20 years.
He has added to the car’s impressive specification with the addition of dashboard enhancements including an original period Cobra clock, map reading light and additional switch gear. Also installed are 4-point harnesses and a harness bar painted dark blue to contrast with the car’s grey leather interior with blue piping. The original inertia belts remain for shopping trips!
The Halibrand wheels have also been changed for the correct 15” items and they wear new Avon CR6ZZ tyres.
The headlamps have been upgraded with modern LED bulbs.
The car has been constantly maintained by specialists Redline, Thunder Road and our client’s in-house engineers.
It has been accepted and used on many classic rallies and has a Brantz discreetly installed in the glovebox along with additional power/charging points.
A unique opportunity to acquire a much loved and used, still low mileage, AC Cobra of correct and well-considered specification (no stripes or side pipes here!) from long term ownership just waiting to tour, rally or fill a special spot in a new keeper’s collection.
