Background:

Introduced in 2005, the Renault Clio RenaultSport 182 Trophy represented the final and most focused development of the second-generation Clio RenaultSport and was produced in a limited run of just 500 examples for the UK market.

Developed from the already capable 182 Cup, the Trophy retained RenaultSport's naturally aspirated 2.0-litre, 16-valve engine and five-speed manual gearbox but gained a number of carefully selected chassis revisions. Most significant were its Sachs remote-reservoir dampers, developed specifically for the model and considerably more sophisticated than the conventional dampers fitted to the regular 182.

The Trophy was also equipped with lightweight 16-inch Speedline Turini alloy wheels and Recaro Trendline front seats, whilst all UK examples were finished in Capsicum Red.

With its low weight, naturally aspirated engine and carefully developed chassis, the Trophy has subsequently become one of the most recognised variants of the Renaultsport Clio.

The Car:

This Clio RenaultSport 182 Trophy is finished in its model-specific Capsicum Red and indicated 128,736 miles at the time of cataloguing. It's accompanied by its Renault book pack, stamped service book and a substantial history file, with the documentation showing regular servicing and maintenance throughout its life, much of this having been entrusted to RenaultSport specialists.

Of particular note, the Sachs dampers were refurbished in 2023, whilst the gearbox synchros were attended to during the same year. The timing belts were last replaced in 2020 and the vendor advises that these are now due for replacement. Further mechanical improvements include CNC porting of the cylinder head and the fitment of a PMS stainless-steel exhaust system. More recently, the front Lambda sensor has been replaced, whilst a new radiator and air-conditioning condenser were fitted in 2025, as were NOS headlights.

The Speedline Turini alloy wheels were stripped, checked for roundness, balanced and re-coated in 2025 and are fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 3 tyres, replaced in 2023 and described as retaining plenty of tread.

The recorded service and maintenance history includes:

The history therefore shows regular maintenance throughout the Trophy's life, with a notable amount of the work undertaken by Renaultsport specialists and attention to a number of the model's important mechanical components.

A Bluetooth-compatible radio is currently fitted, with the original radio retained and accompanying the car. The interior was also professionally cleaned before the car was taken off the road.

Condition:

Finished in Capsicum Red and retaining the distinctive specification associated with the Trophy, including its Speedline Turini alloy wheels and Recaro front seats, this example presents as a clearly used but maintained example of Renaultsport's limited-production hot hatch.

The alloy wheels were refurbished in 2025, whilst NOS headlights were fitted during the same year. The interior has been professionally cleaned and retains its characteristic Trophy specification.

Prospective bidders are encouraged to study the accompanying photographs for a detailed assessment of the exterior, interior, engine bay and overall cosmetic condition.

With 128,736 miles indicated at the time of cataloguing, an extensive service history and significant specialist maintenance including refurbishment of the Sachs dampers and attention to the gearbox synchros, this Clio Renaultsport 182 Trophy offers an opportunity to acquire one of the 500 examples produced for the UK market, with its maintenance history comprehensively documented.
