Description
This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Classic Sale at the NEC Classic Motor Show 2026 on Sunday the 15th of November, NEC, Birmingham, B40 1NT. Estimated price: GBP 12,000 - GBP 15,000.
One of Lotus’ most recognisable and coveted silhouettes, penned by legendary designer Giorgetto Giugiaro, the evolved Series 3 Esprit debuted in April 1981
Powered by a 2.2-litre (2,174cc) Lotus Type 912 naturally aspirated inline-4 fuelled through twin Dell’Orto DHLA 45E carburettors, this Esprit offers 160bhp at 6,500rpm and 160lb/ft of torque through a five-speed manual transaxle
The 1982 example seen here is an incredibly rare opportunity, believed to be one of four produced in the rare shade of Altair Green (A14), three in 1981 and only one in 1982
They were often trimmed in the distinctive Avocado Green or 'Lush Undergrowth' half-leather and cloth interior creating a monochromatic green supercar configuration
This example was originally allocated to Mr T Entright, a former board member of Lotus
Displaying just 23,048 miles, this is an interesting opportunity to acquire a ‘barn find’ Esprit
We are informed that this example was laid up in the early 1990s and dry stored ever since, still wearing its period tyres
Acquired by the current owner, an avid Esprit enthusiast - this car being his sixth - the plan was always to return this car to its former glory
Accompanied by its spare wheel, jack and tool kit as well as the handbook, older receipts and the original service book stamped up to the point the car was last used
A rare opportunity to acquire a true survivor with Lotus company provenance in an incredibly rare colour combination
