Description
Background:
The arrival of the 5.0-litre supercharged V8 in late 2009 marked a significant development in Jaguar's second-generation XK range. Introduced in 2006, the aluminium-bodied X150 XK had already established itself as a particularly accomplished grand tourer, combining elegant styling with impressive performance and refinement.
The revised XKR took matters considerably further, its new 5.0-litre supercharged AJ-V8 (AJ133) producing 510PS (503bhp), a substantial increase over the outgoing 4.2-litre model. Coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission, the engine delivered effortless performance, whilst revisions to the suspension and electronic systems further enhanced the car's sporting credentials.
With its lightweight aluminium construction, supercharged V8 and traditional rear-wheel-drive layout, the XKR offered an appealing combination of performance and long-distance touring ability, characteristics that continue to make these cars highly regarded amongst Jaguar enthusiasts.
The Car:
Dating from late 2009 (technically a 2010 Model Year), this attractive XKR 5.0 Supercharged has had just three owners from new and indicated 89,560 miles at the time of cataloguing. Accompanied by a comprehensive service history, the car has clearly benefited from considerable recent expenditure, most notably during June 2026 when an extensive programme of mechanical maintenance and preventative work was undertaken.
On 18th June 2026, at 89,558 miles, the car received a full engine, gearbox and differential service, together with replacement of the timing chains, guides and tensioners. The work also included:
The alloy wheels were also professionally refurbished and fitted with Hankook tyres all round. An MOT was completed at the same time, with the car passing at the first attempt.
Given the extent of the work undertaken, it is reassuring that the vendor describes the car as driving particularly well, with the recent attention addressing a number of significant mechanical components.
Specification:
In addition to the already generous standard specification of the XKR, this example was ordered with a number of desirable factory options. These include the Bowers & Wilkins premium sound system, featuring Kevlar speakers and aluminium-dome tweeters, together with soft-grain leather 16-way electrically adjustable front seats incorporating four-way lumbar support and adjustable bolsters.
Adaptive Cruise Control was also specified, whilst the car benefits from Jaguar's electronically controlled Active Differential, designed to vary the degree of locking according to driving conditions and available traction. Further equipment includes automatic headlights and wipers, electrically adjustable mirrors, parking sensors, Bluetooth connectivity, satellite navigation, voice control and climate control.
Service History:
The accompanying history file contains the following recorded servicing, with maintenance entrusted to Jaguar main dealers and marque specialists:
Particularly noteworthy is the most recent entry, completed just two miles before the current recorded mileage and encompassing the extensive mechanical work detailed above.
Condition:
Described by our vendor as presenting particularly well, both the Ebony Black exterior and Ivory/Oyster interior are said to remain in excellent condition for a 17-year-old motor car, with only minor marks and stone chips consistent with its age and mileage. The recently refurbished alloy wheels are described as unmarked and are complemented by a matching set of Hankook tyres.
Following the considerable mechanical expenditure undertaken in June 2026, the car is reported to drive exceptionally well, with the vendor expressing particular confidence in its current mechanical condition.
Accompanying the XKR are its original owner's literature and manuals, together with both keys and the original leather document wallet. A substantial history folder contains servicing records, invoices for maintenance and preventative work, previous MOT certificates and a clear HPI report.
With just three owners from new, a comprehensive service history and significant recent expenditure addressing the timing chains, cooling system, suspension and drivetrain, this is an appealing example of Jaguar's 5.0-litre supercharged grand tourer and, combining the performance and character of its 503bhp V8 with an impressive maintenance record, this is an excellent opportunity to acquire one of the most accomplished sporting Jaguars of its generation.
