1985 RENAULT FUEGO

This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Classic Sale at the NEC Classic Motor Show 2026 on Sunday the 15th of November, NEC, Birmingham, B40 1NT. Offered without reserve.

Launched in 1980, the Fuego brought striking, aerodynamic coupé styling to the mainstream. Its distinctive wraparound glass tailgate made it one of Europe's best-selling coupés of the early 1980s. It was also notably innovative, pioneering remote central locking. Surviving examples are now rarely seen, particularly in such well-kept condition.

Offered without reserve from the Birdingbury Collection, a carefully curated selection of six cars from a long-standing private Collection, this Fuego GTS is fresh to the market. First registered in November 1985, it was acquired by its previous owner in March 1986 and remained with him until joining this current collection in July 2013, giving it just two long-term custodians

The car's appeal to marque enthusiasts is underlined by its appearance on the front cover of Renotes in 2005. It is accompanied by an extensive service history up to 2013, and it was serviced again in 2014 following its purchase by the current owner

Having covered minimal mileage since and spent a period in long-term dry storage, it has now been fully recommissioned by Mortons Engineering. The work included draining the fuel, a full service, new rear fuel lines, new front discs and pads, rebuilt front calipers, a carburettor rebuild, a full coolant flush, new thermostat, and a new battery

The car has also received a full underside, engine bay, exterior and interior detail. It is offered with a fresh MOT

Showing 82,429 miles and offered without reserve, this is a rare opportunity to acquire a well-documented, long-term-owned example of one of the most distinctive coupés of the 1980s
