Description
A genuinely cherished, enthusiast-owned example of one of Porsche’s finest modern 911s.
It is with considerable reluctance that I’ve decided to offer my 2007 Porsche 911 Carrera S for sale. This is a car I never intended to part with, but circumstances and other motoring ambitions have changed, and sadly I can’t keep everything!
When I originally set out to buy a 997, I spent a considerable amount of time searching for the right example. I wanted a properly maintained, honest car with good history and, most importantly, thesix-speed MANUAL gearbox. Eventually, I found this one, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed owning it ever since.
For me, the 997.1 Carrera S represents something of a sweet spot in Porsche’s history. It combines the beautifully proportioned, relatively compact body of the earlier 911s with modern levels of performance and usability. The naturally aspirated 3.8-litre flat-six produces 355 PS, and coupled with the manual gearbox and hydraulic steering, delivers a wonderfully engaging driving experience.
I genuinely believe these early 997 Carrera S models, particularly inMANUALform, are becoming increasingly appreciated. As modern performance cars become more digital, enthusiasts are recognising just how special these analogue 911s really are. I believe good examples have a very promising future.
Condition and Ownership
I want to be completely honest about the condition of the car. This is not a concours or showroom example, nor would I pretend otherwise. It’s been driven, enjoyed and used as Porsche intended, so naturally there are some signs of age and use.
However, it has also been genuinely loved, cared for and properly maintained throughout my ownership.
The dark metallic blue paintwork presents beautifully and really suits the understated lines of the 997, complemented by the classic silver alloy wheels and red brake calipers. Inside, the black leather interior has worn well and retains its original character.
I’ve always believed there’s a big difference between a car that’s simply been polished and one that’s been properly looked after. This is very much the latter.
History and Maintenance
The car benefits from a substantial service history, which was one of the main reasons I bought it. I’ve continued to keep on top of servicing and general maintenance throughout my ownership, including replacing the air-conditioning unit.
Importantly, I’ve also booked the car in with a Porsche specialist for a comprehensive bore-scope inspection before sale. I’m fully aware of the concerns surrounding bore scoring on these engines and want any prospective buyer to have complete transparency and confidence in what they’re purchasing. The report will be available once completed.
Specification
A Final Word
I’m a lifelong car enthusiast and historic motorsport competitor, and looking after and enjoying cars is something that means a great deal to me.
I spent a long time finding this Porsche, and I’ve looked after it with the same enthusiasm ever since. I’m not selling because I’ve fallen out of love with it, but because an opportunity to pursue another motorsport ambition has come along.
There will always be lower-mileage examples and cars that have spent more time being polished than driven. But if you’re looking for a solid, honest, properly maintained and genuinely cherished 911, I believe this is one of the good ones.
It’s a car I’ve absolutely loved owning, and I know I’ll miss it.
A proper driver’s 911, with a MANUAL gearbox, a wonderful naturally aspirated engine and many more miles of enjoyment ahead of it.
Genuine enquiries welcome. I’m very happy to discuss the car and its history in detail.
