THE HIGHLIGHTS

Some cars are built simply to get you from A to B. Others make every journey something to look forward to.

This Supra definitely falls into the second category.

Finished in Nissan GT-R Bayside Blue, this 1993 Toyota Supra MKIV Aerotop combines the timeless looks of the fourth-generation Supra with a professionally built, fully forged turbocharged 2JZ-GTE, Getrag V161 six-speed manual gearbox and an extensive list of supporting upgrades.

It's a real head-turner, but there's considerably more to this car than its appearance suggests.

The Supra also has an interesting history within the UK modified-JDM scene, including appearances on Stef's YouTube channel and Officially Gassed. It has attracted interest from enthusiasts in the UK and overseas.

OVERVIEW

Originally built for the Japanese market as a right-hand-drive, naturally aspirated automatic Aerotop, this Supra has been extensively developed over the years.

The transformation includes a fully forged 2JZ-GTE engine, Getrag V161 six-speed manual conversion and twin-turbo-specification limited-slip differential and driveshafts.

The combination of a factory RHD Aerotop, removable roof panel, six-speed manual gearbox and a highly developed turbocharged 2JZ makes for a particularly enjoyable car.

It can be driven and enjoyed at a relaxed pace with the roof off, but there's an extraordinary amount of performance available when you want it.

HISTORY & DOCUMENTATION

First registered in the UK in 1999, this Japanese-market Supra has a long history of enthusiast ownership and modification.

Its development has been documented within the MKIV Supra owners' community, providing a record of how the car has evolved over the years.

The car comes with a large box folder containing extensive documentation, including records relating to the 2021 Magnum Performance engine build and the documented rolling-road results.

The Supra has covered approximately 126,000 miles from new, with fewer than 11,400 miles covered since the 2021 engine build.

A Supra-specific private registration is included in the sale.

MECHANICAL SPECIFICATION

The engine was professionally built by Magnum Performance in 2021, starting with a brand-new Toyota 2JZ-GTE block.

This was a comprehensive engine build, with new forged internals, extensive cylinder-head work and supporting upgrades throughout.

Engine and supporting specification:

• Manley Turbo Tuff forged pistons with upgraded pins and Manley Tri-Beam connecting rods with ARP625+ fasteners
• Micro-polished and balanced OEM crankshaft, Titan billet main caps, ACL Race bearings and uprated ARP hardware
• CNC race-ported cylinder head with uprated valves, guides and dual valve springs
• GSC billet camshafts, Titan billet cam tensioner and ATI crank damper
• Precision 6870 Gen 2 ball-bearing single turbocharger
• Polished SSI intake manifold, ETS 5-inch front-mount intercooler and upgraded polished intercooler pipework
• ID1300cc injectors, twin Walbro 450 fuel pumps and twin Teflon fuel lines
• R35 coil-pack conversion, K&N induction filter and HKS blow-off valve
• Custom 4-inch stainless-steel exhaust system
• Syvecs S6 engine management, Toucan display and flex-fuel sensor

The TRD oil filler cap currently fitted will be replaced with an OEM Toyota oil filler cap prior to sale.

PERFORMANCE & FLEX-FUEL CAPABILITY

Professionally mapped by Romain at RaceCal Ltd, the Supra produced a documented 794.7 hp and 592.9 lb-ft on pump fuel during rolling-road testing on 29 March 2021.

The forged engine, Precision 6870 turbocharger and upgraded fuel system were built with considerably more power in mind, including 1,000+ bhp potential on E85 ethanol fuel.

The Syvecs S6 ECU has an active flex-fuel calibration, with ethanol-content monitoring and fuel-dependent engine management. The car is already set up to run on E85 as well as pump fuel, without requiring a separate conversion or remap.

Other features include selectable boost settings, launch control and rolling launch control.

CONDITION

This is an extensively modified, 33-year-old performance car, not a factory-standard or concours example.

It presents very well overall, although there are some age-related cosmetic imperfections, including paintwork and trim blemishes.

The asking price reflects the car's current condition as well as its extensive specification and documented development. I am open to sensible discussion with genuinely interested buyers.

IN SUMMARY

For me, what makes this Supra special is the combination of its looks, character and performance.

With the Aerotop roof panel removed, it's a fantastic car to enjoy on a sunny day. Then there's the sound of the turbocharged straight-six through the custom 4-inch exhaust, the involvement of the six-speed manual gearbox and the sheer performance available when you put your foot down.

It's a car I've thoroughly enjoyed owning, and one that never fails to put a smile on my face.
