1946 WILLYS JEEP

This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Classic Sale at the NEC Classic Motor Show 2026 on Sunday the 15th of November, NEC, Birmingham, B40 1NT. Estimated price: GBP 16,000 - GBP 20,000.

Dating from early 1946, this CJ-2A (#19701) is a VEC (Very Early Civilian) and one of the sought-after 'transition' examples

Because it was built immediately after World War II, early CJ-2As like #19701 often used leftover, unmachined military parts from the Willys MB wartime production line, making them a fascinating mechanical hybrid

Imported into the UK and correctly registered on 13/08/1980, it has been fully restored to WWII-spec, reportedly some 14 years ago, and continues to present well today

Recent cosmetic and practical improvements include a set of new tyres fitted in 2024, a replacement American Canvas rear tonneau cover, a new silencer and a new battery

Mechanically, the Jeep has benefited from the fitting of a new forward-drive propshaft, an Autolite dynamo and a replacement electronic regulator

Further attention includes a new foot-start switch, together with a recent service and greasing where required, helping to keep this characterful machine in good order

Finished in Olive Drab, with its unmistakable military heritage, purposeful stance and open-air motoring appeal, the Willys remains a charismatic choice for enthusiasts of classic utility vehicles

Equally at home on the open road, at classic car shows or attending period-themed events, this is a vehicle certain to attract attention wherever it goes

An appealing opportunity to acquire a restored example of an important chapter in motoring history, offering its next custodian the prospect of considerable enjoyment and participation in the classic vehicle scene
