This is our guide price, i.e. what we think the car is worth in the current market, however, the reserve will be lower. ⭕ VEHICLE SUMMARY
A delightful example of the wonderfully approachable Triumph Herald, combining distinctive Michelotti styling with simple mechanicals, four-seat accommodation, and open-air motoring.
Introduced in 1959, the Herald represented a significant change from the small Standard saloons it replaced. Italian designer Giovanni Michelotti created its crisp, elegant bodywork, while Triumph adopted a separate steel chassis with detachable body panels.
This construction allowed Triumph to offer the Herald in several different forms, including saloon, coupé, estate, and convertible. Its mechanical layout also provided the basis for later models including the Vitesse, Spitfire, and GT6.
The Herald 1200 arrived in 1961, bringing an enlarged 1,147cc four-cylinder engine, improved torque, and a higher final-drive ratio for more relaxed cruising. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual gearbox, while rack-and-pinion steering and all-independent suspension contribute to its famously manoeuvrable character.
This 1967 Convertible is finished in bright red with a black interior, walnut dashboard, and white-painted steel wheels. Its slim roof pillars, chrome detailing, and neatly lowered black hood give it all the cheerful period character expected from a Herald.
