Description
This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Classic Sale at the NEC Classic Motor Show 2026 on Sunday the 15th of November, NEC, Birmingham, B40 1NT. Estimated price: GBP 8,000 - GBP 10,000.
The Mégane Renaultsport 225 Trophy was a highly exclusive, limited-production hot hatch engineered during Renault’s mid-2000s Formula 1 glory days. Built as a hardcore, track-focused evolution of the standard Mégane 225, only 500 units were produced worldwide, with a mere 150 examples built in right-hand drive for the UK market
The Trophy was specifically engineered to fix the soft handling criticisms of the early standard 225 models by introducing the sharper, firmer Cup Chassis with stiffer springs and dampers, uprated Brembo brakes, revised steering geometry, and a completely switchable Electronic Stability Programme
It was sold exclusively in Nimbus Grey metallic paint paired with lightweight 18-inch Anthracite alloy wheels
Inside, the cabin features bolstered Renault Sport seats with embossed logos, striking blue seatbelts, blue/grey part-leather or fabric upholstery, and a custom numbered plaque on the console indicating its exact production number out of 500
First registered in May 2005, this Megane 225 Trophy is number 293 of the 500 built, and is offered from four years of diligent ownership with the previous two owners reportedly being father and son
Supplied with its stamped Renault service book showing an impressive 19 stamps, Renault wallet, handbooks and Trophy brochure
In more recent years this Trophy has benefitted from a replacement timing belt, water pump, auxiliary belt and coolant which were all replaced in November 2020 at 41,678 miles by The Renault Specialist in West Bromwich (invoice on file)
With its distinctive styling cues, including sporty bodywork and unique alloy wheels, the Mégane Renaultsport 225 Trophy showcased Renault's commitment to blending performance and practicality. Although production of the 225 Trophy ceased in 2006, it remains a sought-after model among enthusiasts for its thrilling driving experience and collectable status within the hot hatch segment
