2005 AUDI A4

Audi’s success in the 2004 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters championship provided a fitting reason to produce something special. Securing the drivers’, teams’ and manufacturers’ titles, the marque celebrated with a limited-edition version of its B7-generation A4 saloon. Developed by quattro GmbH and introduced in 2005, the DTM Edition combined additional performance with distinctive detailing, creating a discreet sporting saloon with a direct connection to Audi’s contemporary motorsport achievements. Just 250 right-hand-drive examples were allocated to the UK.

Central to its appeal was an uprated version of Audi’s 2.0-litre turbocharged, direct-injection four-cylinder engine, producing 220PS, approximately 217bhp, and 300Nm of torque. Paired with a six-speed manual gearbox and permanent quattro four-wheel drive, it offered the involvement and traction expected of a sporting Audi, with a quoted 0–62mph time of 7.1 seconds and a maximum speed of 153mph. Its broad spread of torque made that performance readily accessible, whilst the familiar four-door body retained the everyday practicality that had helped establish the A4’s popularity.

The DTM specification extended well beyond the engine. Revised springs and dampers lowered the ride height by 20mm, complemented by ventilated, cross-drilled front brake discs and distinctive 18-inch, 15-spoke alloy wheels. Bespoke bumpers, a carbon-fibre front splitter and boot spoiler, rear diffuser and larger exhaust outlets gave the car a purposeful appearance without overwhelming the A4’s restrained lines. Inside, Recaro sports seats trimmed in leather and Nardia microfibre, carbon-fibre inlays and carefully coordinated detailing distinguished the cabin from the standard model. Together, these changes gave the DTM Edition an identity of its own within Audi’s sporting range.

The example offered here is particularly noteworthy for its minimal use. Indicating just 13,983 miles at the time of cataloguing, it is offered with an MOT history supporting that low mileage and a service record documenting attention despite the modest distances covered. Seven Audi services are recorded between 2007 and 2018, the latter at 13,744 miles.

A subsequent service was carried out on behalf of our vendor in May 2026 at 13,980 miles. The recorded mileages therefore show very little use since 2018, with only 236 miles separating that year’s Audi service and the most recent maintenance. Combined with its low ownership, this provides an appealing history for a model whose performance and practicality often encouraged rather greater annual mileages.

Whilst the DTM Edition has maintained a relatively modest profile alongside Audi’s more familiar S and RS models, its appeal is easy to understand. Limited UK availability, quattro GmbH development, a manual gearbox and distinctive carbon-fibre detailing make it an interesting chapter in the marque’s sporting history. With its unusually low mileage and documented servicing, this example offers an opportunity to acquire a seldom-seen A4 with considerably more significance than its understated appearance might initially suggest.
