EXTERIOR

A cult classic from its inception, this wide-body BMW roadster looks formidable finished in flawless Bright Red, (Code 314). The long and muscular bonnet housing the legendary BMW straight six-cylinder engine and short rear end, are true BMW Roadster characteristics, while the traditional kidney grille and front side air vents are synonymous with the marque. The factory paintwork boasts a stunning deep shine and uniform finish, and all panels are pin-straight with no dings or noteworthy damage other than a touched in mark to the offside sill and light scratch to the nearside rear corner. The factory electric soft-top retains its deep black colouring thanks to garage storage and the plastic rear screen is very clear with virtually no markings. Underside and wheel apertures are exceptionally clean and clearly representative of low mileage, fair weather use. All trim sections and badges are in excellent order and light clusters crystal clear. Supplying dealer tax disc holder and number plates remain fitted with slight delamination to the front plate corner. A fine example throughout.

INTERIOR

The cockpit of the Z3 is inclined to the driver and instantly recognisable as traditional BMW. The 2.8 model came with electrically adjustable seats in Oregon Leather and the original owner specified expensive heated Sports seats in Tanin Red/Black, (Code Q2TD). Commensurate with the exceptionally low mileage, the hide is well preserved and spotlessly clean with no colour loss to the Tanin Red and only slight markings to the drivers Black sections. The leather trimmed M steering wheel shows virtually no wear and colour coded genuine BMW mats have protected the carpets from new. The chrome-line interior really lifts the look inside the cockpit and part of this is the M chromed gear knob showing some slight wear to the top edge. The pristine dashboard houses fully functioning equipment including the on-board computer and original BMW Business stereo all with perfect LCD displays. Another expensive factory optional is the air conditioning costing £936.17. The immaculate boot area neatly stores the rear tonneau cover, original full toolkit, jack and warning triangle. Even the unopened genuine BMW wheel changing kneel mat is still present! Totally standard and unspoilt, this is an iconic BMW interior.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

The jewel in the crown is this silky-smooth refined and free-revving M52 straight-six engine displacing 2.8 litres. It is nothing short of sensational with acceleration to 62mph in 6.9 seconds and a top speed of 140mph. The evocative exhaust note is addictive and instantly recognisable. Those enjoying the show circuit will be proud to show off the immaculately clean engine bay complete with all factory stickers and labels intact. Roadster connoisseurs generally prefer the 5-speed manual gearbox that offers a short and slick changes with a perfectly weighted clutch. The driver’s choice for the Ultimate Driving Machine.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES

Fitted as a factory upgrade, the 17in light-alloy wheels in round-spoke styling with different sizes front and rear are unmarked and fill the wide-body flared arches beautifully. Brand new Bridgestone Turanza 6 tyres of size 225/45 R17 to the front and 245/40 R17 to the rear were fitted in October 2026 and have covered zero miles. Front and rear disc brakes, ventilated to the front, with anti-lock assistance (ABS) offer superb stopping power.

HISTORY FILE

Supplied new by BMW main dealers, Specialist Cars Limited of Stevenage, on the 24th March 2000, the car was pre-registered by the dealership before being registered the following day to Mr Jones, the first private owner. This range topping 2.8 wide-body example has enjoyed a pampered existence and remained with the first owner for 15 years until 2015 when it was bought by the second keeper who has owned the car ever since. Having covered just 20,804 miles from new, with two private owners, the car is preserved in remarkable condition. There are six stamped entries in the original BMW service book, the initial five being the supplying dealership until 2018 at which point the car was taken off the road and dry stored. A full recommission in October 2026 includes a major service, full safety inspection and brake inspection with renewal of consumables where needed and new premium brand tyres. All handbooks are present in the black A5 BMW folder along with the new car sales brochures from the period. Two remote keys plus the grey valet key are present along with supplying dealer fob. A prime example from the iconic cult Z model range with low mileage.
