1962 DAIMLER SP

This beautifully presented 1962 Daimler Dart SP250, does come with a bit of a story - but a story that we believe represents an excellent opportunity for the next owner. Finished in an attractive shade of Metallic Green with a subtle Light Green Leather interior, it's certainly an eyeful, but most importantly, it benefits from extensive and documented restoration work in excess of £33,000. This particularly handsome example of this increasingly sought-after British classic, was first registered in January 1962. It has benefitted from considerable care and investment throughout its life, with an extensive history file documenting two significant periods of restoration, alongside numerous other invoices In November 2000, the car underwent a major body-off restoration by KD Motor Engineers, costing £8,575.89. This involved removal of the body from the chassis, stripping the engine, gearbox, suspension and running gear from the chassis, followed by shot-blasting, extensive chassis repairs, replacement spring hangers and outriggers, and subsequent preparation and refinishing. The bodywork was also repaired and repainted, with the chromework also receiving attention. More recently, in 2023, the car was entrusted to Robert Grinter Restorations, renowned specialists in classic Daimler V8s, for another substantial programme of structural and mechanical refurbishment, with invoices totalling over £24K. The resulting car offers far more for a buyer than other Darts currently on the market, and it should be particularly reassuring to see such extensive work carried out by an SP250 specialist, with the accompanying invoices providing a detailed record of the considerable investment made. Unfortunately, the car is currently smoking out of one exhaust, which suggests that the valve guides/seats are worn on one bank of the engine. As such, the car is being sold as a 'project car' for the new owner to rectify. With such great expense having been spent on the car so far, this is an opportunity to buy a particularly attractive example of the charismatic Daimler Dart SP250 that has been thoroughly mechanically sorted, but for this one known issue left to resolve.
