2008 PORSCHE CAYMAN

Background

Introduced for the 2006 model year, the Porsche Cayman added a fixed-roof coupé to the mid-engined platform underpinning the second-generation Boxster. Positioned between the Boxster and the 911, it combined six-cylinder performance with a two-seat cabin and everyday practicality.

The engine’s position behind the occupants and ahead of the rear axle was central to its balanced handling. Rear-wheel drive, hydraulic power steering and the rigidity of the fixed-roof body contributed to its reputation as a rewarding driver’s car. Luggage compartments at both ends, together with rear hatch access, also made it suitable for touring.

In its initial 'S' specification, the 987 was powered by a naturally-aspirated, water-cooled 3.4-litre flat-six producing 295PS and 340Nm of torque enhanced by Porsche’s 'VarioCam Plus' variable valve timing and lift system contributing to its mid-range flexibility and responsive performance.

PASM provides electronically controlled damping with a choice of settings, whilst Sport Chrono Package Plus adds a selectable Sport mode and timing functions. The heated Adaptive Sports Seats offer extensive adjustment and support, complementing the car’s combination of sporting and touring equipment.

Acquired by our vendor in early 2022, the Cayman has been in his ownership for almost five years and has covered just 3,131 miles during that time. Having spent a period in storage in recent years, it displayed 48,088 miles at the time of cataloguing and has recently passed a fresh MOT. Our vendor describes the car as being 'in immaculate condition inside and out'.
