Porsche 996 turbo
I have owned this car for over 10 years and it’s been bullet proof which is no surprise being the renowned Metzger engine. The car was originally silver with a black interior which I soon decided to change. I had quite a few jobs and a service with Ninemeister shortly after purchasing it.
Performance
The car was mapped by Wayne Schofield at Ninemeister in April 2016 and tested on their Dynostar rolling road before and after. The figures are engine power, with drivetrain losses added back:
Before the map: 446 hp at 6,675 rpm, 418 lb-ft at 4,181 rpm
After the map: 485.5 hp at 6,718 rpm, 476 lb-ft at 3,751 rpm
That’s a gain of around 40 hp and 58 lb-ft over standard, with peak torque arriving lower in the rev range. For reference, the factory figures were 414 bhp and 413 lb-ft. The rolling road printout is in the folder.
My History
All servicing ever since has been with Darren at Unique Porsche in Bolton I am certain he will vouch for myself and my car. The service hook is fully stamped up and I have a leather embossed folder with a stack of invoices going back to day one. The car has a titanium exhaust fitted that isn’t that loud and not at all boomy it also has MILLTEK race manifolds I had 996 GT3 6 pot front callipers fitted front tyres gave lots of tread the rears are new. The callipers and wheels were restored in yellow and black 2 years ago.
I then had the car wrapped in a gloss red that I didn’t like as it was too eggshell in appearance. I then had it wrapped in satin red and had the interior retrimmed in red/ black leather. I bought some new carbon bits for it including a tiptronic gear shifter the trim at the front of the windows the drivers has the window controls set in it, the key surround, the surround above the climate controls and the instrument binnacle surround. Believe it or not these bits cost over £2k so I decided spending that sort of money on the rest of the interior trim just wasn’t worth it so I had the rest was carbon dipped.
Then 2 years ago I hit a post in a car park and needed the a repair to the front bumper and Shadow Wraps who did my last 2 wraps couldn’t match the wrap as over the years it had faded ever so slightly and didn’t quite match so I decided to go for another wrap this time in gloss yellow that I think is the best yet. I felt the red and black interior did not suit the car but this time after looking at recent Porsche restomods and their Heritage cars I decided on a yellow and red tartan cloth with leather. I love the interior yes it’s out there and am sure purists won’t appreciate it but I did it for me and it’s a pretty unique car, it’s def no longer grey with the all black sombre interior!
I bought a Macan steering wheel for the car that I had retrimmed with a Design Porsche column adapter but the rocker switches are not wired to anything the Sony stereo has its own remote fixed to the steering column.
I’ve added small things like USB ports in the rear, USB ports connected to the Sony stereo next to the heated seat switches, ashtray delete with a switch that opens my garage door, Design Porsche door pulls and USB cigarette lighter lookalike in the horseshoe, Porsche puddle lights and cup holders even though it has the standard ones I’ve put a new one near my left knee it’s so much easier to use and doesn’t spill everywhere like the originals. I have fitted the gear change adjuster for the Tip and LED footwell lights. I had red gauge faces made with “Turbo” inserted and a red warning light surround. In the front boot I have installed a battery charger/conditioner. New Porsche Design metal fuel cap.
As you can see the car has wanted for nothing it drives superbly and still turns heads. I am fortunate in having a few nice cars but being 70 I hardly drive the car as the MOT history below shows. It has an electric sunroof that was slow the day I got the car so I’ve never used it since. I am not desperate to sell or take a part ex and I know the manual 996 Turbos are starting to increase in price quite significantly but a lot of people do not realise how much of an easier life the Tiptronic have on the engine. They automatically set off in 2nd gear when left in auto and unlike the manuals when the car is mapped mine showed no over revs and Wayne says that’s so not the case with the manuals. If I keep the car my next job would to be to wire up the paddle shifters on the new wheel.
History file
The car comes with its full history in a black leather folder with an engraved "Porsche 911" plaque. It contains:
Fully stamped service book
Every invoice going back to day one, including Porsche in Malaga, Porsche Centre Exeter, Ninemeister and Unique Porsche
Rolling road printout from the 2016 map
MOT history and HPI report
Buyers are welcome to go through the whole folder when viewing.
Note on mileage: An HPI check will flag a mileage discrepancy. This is due to a recording error, not an odometer issue. On 1 October 2010 the car’s MOT was logged twice on the same day – once correctly at 63,768 miles and once incorrectly at 93,645 miles. Every reading before and after follows a consistent pattern (e.g. 63,754 in June 2010 and 64,025 in April 2011), and the car didn’t reach 90,000 miles until 2017. A Porsche Centre Exeter service invoice from November 2009 at 61,899 miles further confirms the true history. There is also a one-off insurance record of 16,192 miles in July 2010, which is clearly a typing error. The 2015 MOT was recorded in kilometres (140,132 km = 87,074 miles), which is correct. Full MOT history, service book and invoices are available to view, and I’m happy to go through them with any buyer.
The cars was a Cat D when I bought it 10 years ago it was used in Spain by one it’s previous owner at his holiday home I don’t have any pics but in the folder is a long letter of all the service history and money spent on upkeep including this re the accident.
The car drives very well. There are no faults or lights on the dashboard. I’m a qualified mechanic and own my own workshop. I’ve maintained the car to a high standard and I’m a Porsche enthusiast – this is my second Porsche Turbo. It’s due to business commitments that I’m sadly selling this beauty. I have spent a lot of time and money (no expense spared) on the car.
The car has been owned by me since January 2011; the previous owner was my older brother, who had the car since May 2010. The car was involved in a non-fault accident in May 2011. The damage was to the driver’s side door and driver’s side wing – NO MECHANICAL DAMAGE. The car was an insurance write-off, CAT D – VERY LIGHT DAMAGE. The car was repaired using new genuine Porsche parts, including every nut and bolt.
Here’s a list of factory-fitted options the Porsche comes with:

I paid £25k for the car in 2016 I will have spent nearly the same on the car since I bought it! I am genuinely not desperate to sell the car so please no silly offers reciting its expensive for a Cat D as the car wants for nothing as had fortunes spent on it and is definitely different from all the rest that’s for sure!
