Description
-All new engine, gearbox, paintwork, trim, brakes, suspension, tyres etc etc
This Fiat 500 is not the usual dressed-up, superficially restored 500; it has been totally restored with no expense spared. Every system has been restored, from the engine, fuel tank and system, brakes, suspension, interior, full paintwork, new vinyl roof, new lights and bumpers; everything is new!
The car is in wonderful overall condition, and benefits from being a Lusso: bright trim below the doors, sunroof, ashtray, locking front luggage compartment (bonnet or frunk), fuel warning light, door-switched courtesy lighting in the interior, screenwashers, windscreen demisting from the heater, beautiful new black trim, full new, correct carpeting throughout, bright metal drip rails and door window trims, twin period chrome mirrors and chrome rear number plate light cover. This is possibly the most desirable 500 as it has all the benefits and luxuries (!) of the later 1968-1972 500L Lusso along with original right-hand-drive, and finished in beautiful Giallo Positano.
A fabulous car to drive, with good power from its 500cc engine with 4-speed gearbox, light and direct steering, excellent roadholding and handling, powerful four-wheel drum brakes, it is a charming car, whether on winding passes, your favourite city promenade or beachfront cruise. It is fully serviced and is ready for the new owner! Owned by a very experienced Ferrari owner/driver and long-term Carsup client, it is only for sale as he has too many other cars and motorcycles and wishes to slim down his fleet a little!
Historical summary of the model
The Fiat 500 hardly needs an introduction; the car that helped Italy and much of Europe get back on the road after the privations of the 1950s, the 500 was an immediate success, its beautiful rounded shape dictated by the need to cheaply add strength and also shapeliness. It is considered one of the first purpose-designed city cars. In 1959, the designer Dante Giacosa received a Compasso d'Oro industrial design prize for the Fiat 500. This marked the first time a Compasso d’Oro was awarded to an automotive manufacturer.
Appearing in countless Italian and other European films and television productions, the classic 500, is a unique combination of cuteness and Italian styling. It is a car that makes everyone smile and will win you many new friends! It is the embodiment of La Dolce Vita for the price of a (very) used Golf!
