  • This C16 UK supplied 964 Carrera 2 Targa has recently undergone an extraordinary programme of work with JZM Porsche, with the scale of expenditure being the defining feature of the car.

The main JZM invoice totals £96,054.14, covering far more than a routine recommissioning. At its centre is a comprehensive engine rebuild, including new valve guides, rocker shafts and arms, valve springs, inlet and exhaust valves, main and big-end bearings, timing chains and tensioners, oil pump, piston rings, injector overhaul, replated barrels and extensive engineering work. A new dual-mass flywheel and clutch kit were also fitted, together with a new engine wiring loom, catalyst and stainless-steel heat exchanger.

The work extended throughout the rest of the car. More than £13,000 of bodyshop repairs were invoiced, alongside renewed suspension components, front and rear shock absorbers, wishbones and ball joints, brake pipes, upgraded rear callipers, refurbished front callipers, rear discs and pads, front oil cooler and pipework, power-steering lines, wheel bearing, tyres and a full geometry setup.

Further documented work followed, including a replacement camshaft housing, oil tank, mixing-flap motor, battery and additional electrical and suspension-related parts, carrying a further invoiced value of £4,346.19.

Taken together, the documented JZM work represents over £100,000 of recent expenditure. With the car offered at £109,900, the scale of investment is difficult to ignore — the value of the work carried out is approaching the asking price of the entire car.

For the next owner, that means acquiring a C16 964 Targa where many of the largest and most expensive jobs associated with the model have already been addressed, rather than inheriting them further down the line.
