DESCRIPTION:

This 964 was registered in August 1990 by Ian Anthony Porsche in Wilmslow and delivered to its original owner from Manchester. The car was ordered in Guards Red, with a manual gearbox, sports seats and an electric sun-roof.

The car was definitely bought to be used as intended, covering over 50,000 miles in its first 4 years after which the annual mileage count dropped significantly more in line with a weekend only car.

The current owner purchased the car in October 2009 with the car having covered a mere 115,000 miles and has since covered a further 19,000 miles during their ownership of 17 years with the car being used very lightly over more recent years.

During this ownership, the car has largely been serviced and maintained by Cheshire Porsche specialists Ninemeister who have also carried out some subtle upgrades such as KW adjustable suspension along with 964RS based set up. Larger maintenance jobs have also been completed including a replacement clutch and a significant engine overhaul including some 993 components for added driveability and reliability.

The cars look has also seen some subtle modifications over the years including the ‘aero’ Cup Door Mirrors and the 17” Cup 2 style Alloy Wheels. Internally the car features a Club Sport leather Steering Wheel and a Sony Head unit with USB and Aux port facilities.

The car generally presents well, the paint is consistent and the alloy wheels are kerb damage free. There are a couple of cosmetic areas which could be improved as and when required, whilst the interior is in very nice condition.

The real joy with this 964 is the way it drives. The engine is smooth and eager and pulls extremely well through the rev range, feeling a fair bit livelier than the usual 964’s. The gear change is smooth and precise whilst the clutch feel is smooth and light with excellent bite. Steering is sharp and the handling is accurate with the upgraded suspension giving a perfectly balanced ride with superb road manners, whilst the brakes are progressive and confidence inspiring.

This in many ways is the perfect air-cooled 911, good looking & presentable (if not immaculate) whilst offering superb old school performance and usability all with that glorious, air-cooled Porsche flat six howl and burble. A classic 911 to be driven and enjoyed more than polished and locked away.
