With 220bhp the Evo II is the most powerful of the 2.3 litre M3s and incorporates wide-ranging modifications to ensure continued success in international racing.

The Evo 2 was homologated with major revisions to the engine, larger throttle bodies, lightweight flywheel, revised suspension bushes, 16” wheels, Motorsport foot rest, M3 sill trims, modified front and rear spoilers made of lightweight materials and brake cooling ducts in place of the fog-lights. Bumper supports and the boot-lid were lightened and lightweight glass was specified for the rear screen and side windows. The Evo II was offered in one of only three colours (Macau Blue, Nogaro Silver and Misano Red) and all displayed a colourful Motorsport-inspired cam cover and plenum chamber.

This particular M3 is one of the rare UK supplied examples. It is supplied with a full service history and fully stamped service book which are presented in the original leather M3 Motorsport wallet. The Original English version manuals and rare M3 supplement are present along with the original radio, keys and tools. Every MOT from new, the first being at 5100 miles in July 1991 are in the folder. Original BMW order paperwork for the first owner showing the price at £28,232 Plus VAT. There is also a letter from the first owner confirming he purchased the car in 1988 from Wollaston Motors and sold the car three years later with only 5000 miles.

The BMW main agent, LMT Garages Ltd sales invoice to the second owner in 1991 with only 5100 miles is included with the documents. This shows a purchase price of £22,000 together with his Escort RS Turbo which was taken in part exchange. In April 1997 the third owner, a BMW main agent purchased the car for their own private collection. The car had then covered only 8791 miles. The owner of the BMW main dealer covered 8,800 miles before selling the car through us to the fourth owner in December 2012.

The current owner is a good friend and customer of ours and he has had the car in his private collection for two years. It is now time to find a new custodian. The car is supplied with a black tailor made BMW Motorsport fleece car cover and the BMW classic birth certificate.
