ROVER MG ZT (04MY) 260 V8 SE 2004
MG ZT 260 SE 4.6 V8 FOR SALE
Currently 70,770 miles
2004 SE facelift model. Bought for £6200 in March 2014 at around 57K. Used as my daily runner since purchase, hence 14K miles covered since purchase.
7 previous owners.
If you have never driven one of these, then you should. You can read about them and learn more on the Two Sixties MG site.
This saloon is one of only 550 to be made. They are a rare breed. Power to weight ratio means you would get similar performance from a modern TDi, but you wont get the same handling, musical exhaust and sheer joy that this model brings. I have had more smiles per miles in this car than in any other I have owned - apart maybe from my old Griff 500.
But I haven't found anything as wondrous to drive as this V8 all rounder.
All the SE trimmings inc Elec everything inc sunroof, windows, seats (heated), air con, sat nav (BMW), reverse parking sensors.
Good history - 11 stamps in service record.
Engine & Gearbox supplied by GT Racing in Devon at around 48K by former owner due to reported gear box failure.
XPower silencers sound simply terrific.
Since purchased by me has benefited from:
60K full service at 62834.
Oil change at 69298 with new K&N filter.
Issues which emerged since purchase in March 2014 & which have now been resolved:
Front tyres had wear on outer edges which continued on to new tyre. 4 wheel alignment at 68K and checked later - now wearing evenly across the tread. Dunlop Pilots on front 1500 miles ago. Bridgestone Potenzas on rear (3000, of which 1500 was on fronts prior to 4WA)
Shortly after purchase, long standing misfire/power loss fault re-emerged. This had been previously investigated by former owner(s).New fuel pump fitted by Nick at Austin Garage at 64K, & has not missed a beat since.
Airbag warning (common fault caused by passenger seat wiring) now resolved.
Nick at Austin waxoyled the subframe cross-member inside and out Sept 2014 and commented on it and the general condition of the car at the time as being better than some of a similar age.
Water pump – replaced with Edelbrock upgrade 64K. Slight leak noted from pump & repaired at 69K. Not lost drop of coolant so far in past 700 miles since.
Handbrake compensator fitted at 64K and new rear pads at 69K
Wheels refurbed & repainted in Nissan Sparkle Grey (Code KY0) which was as close to shadow chrome as could be found.
Minor issues - driver mat is original 260, but a little frayed. Some fine scratches to paintwork on body here and there.
Car runs beautifully & will be sold with full MOT. This is a Very Reluctant Sale due to currently being out of work.
For Sale at £6200 OVNO, which is the price I paid. But I have since spent an additional £2700 since purchase last year to make this car run sweet and look great, so please, realistic offers only for this very usable and appreciating grand touring future classic.
