On June Saturday 2nd 2007 we have an extra special event at Harewood to help celebrate 45 years of motor sport at the north’s premier hillclimb venue - a Classic and Vintage speed hill climb. Drivers from throughout the UK will converge on Harewood to show off their cars and push them to the limits. Here we feature some pictures of the type of cars which we expect to be entered at the meeting. The day will start with practice in the morning, followed by competitive runs in the afternoon. Up to 120 cars will be entered from a bygone era, however a number of the drivers will be more used to competing in up to date machinery, with luxuries such as sequential gearboxes, launch control, top speeds in excess of 100mph and brakes that work! Even so the competition will be fierce and action packed and the skill of the drivers will be paramount. The event will feature a wide variety of cars built before 1972. There will be classes for Edwardian cars, Pre 1941 standard and modified sports cars, special sports cars and racing cars from the golden age of motor sport and classes for saloon, sports and racing cars built up to 1971. The day will bring back memories for many people of the time when man and machine were pushed to the limit to gain the fastest times. Harewood hill climb will challenge the drivers and cars over its tarmac 1448 meter course. You will be able to get close to the both cars and drivers in the paddock and also trackside for some stunning action. Make sure you come along for what will be a great day out for all the family.
