We are very proud to offer for sale our super rare Ducati 888 Lucchinelli Replica, the first Ducati Superbike of the modern age and founding example of the glorious golden era for Ducati. This exceptional motorcycle was one of less than 20 hand made by the factory race team to raise funds to help the Ducati race team, it is however believed that only 17 bikes actually left the production line and only 12 remain today worldwide. This UK bike was collected from the Ducati factory in 1989 by its first owner Roger Winterburn of Windy Corner Motorcycles with Hoss Helm of Moto Cinelli (the former Ducati importer). It was subsequently sold to Charlie Corner who removed all the standard fairings, tank and exhaust, bubble wrapped and then stored them. A complete new factory carbon fibre body kit was fitted and he then successfully raced the bike with the highlight being a 5th place finish at Assen in 1990. All the original parts were stored and replaced back on the bike when it was restored to original specification. The package also contains the original paddock stand and a host of paperwork, including a letter from Charlie Corner reference an in depth history of the bike, the original workshop manual, receipts and a unique brochure that Charlie Corner had produced to attract potential sponsors for his race team (actual bike appears in brochure). There is also an article from Motorcycle News (1990) featuring the bike and rider and various photographs and archive material including an original Ducati cardboard cut out to build a replica model. It is extremely rare to find such a historic motorcycle in it's original configuration as it left the factory, This Ducati is one of the rarest Ducatis, a true relic of the companies racing pedigree and is without doubt worthy of the most discerning collection.
