Description

For sale is my driver spec'd 911. An early 3.4 gen 1 996. The last 911 to come with a throttle cable and the lightest 996 road car Porsche made: manual, C2/rear wheel drive, non-sun-roof, no side airbags, 4 speakers instead of 6, no amps, and Carrera 10 spokes wheels. The lightest 17-inch wheels Porsche made, harder to find as used by 964 and 993 owners as track/race wheels. It tipped the scales at 1370kgs with half a tank of fuel. Lighter than the GT3 996s.
The 911 comes with extensive service history and sensible modifications continuing the 'Driver's 911' theme. Recent MOT (no advisories), Michelin PS4s, and a large service including sump off inspection, old filter cut open and inspected, and oil sent off for analysis (all clear, full report can be emailed).
Spec:
* C2 Gen 1 3.4 (dual row IMS and coated pistons)
* Arctic Silver
* Black interior (no metropole blue here!)
* Manual
* Non-sunroof
* MO30
* Porsche Sport Seats (Hard backed - see interior pics)
* Porsche Sport Three-spoke steering wheel (big difference to use vs. the standard 4 spoke, thicker rim with a smaller diameter - see interior pics)
* Porsche Carrera 10-Spokes, lightest wheels on the 996
Mods:
* H&R Springs (sits 5mm lower and improved ride quality over the MO30s)
* H&R Adjustable Rear Antiroll Bar
* GT3 centre console delete (original console included in sale)
* Continental Stereo (Bluetooth audio and phone, looks OEM)
* Dansk Silencers
* Low temp thermostat
* Magnetic sump plug
The mods are designed to aid reliability and/or replace ageing parts with upgrades. The springs and RARB are a marginal gain to the overall handling vs. the factory MO30. The biggest change has been moving to 17s and fitting Michelin PS4s. These transformed the car.
The service history recently includes coffin arms, a geo, windscreen, premium battery, gearbox oil change (Motul Gear 300), and climate control fix. It also includes further receipts for replacement(s): Clutch, Flywheel, RMS, shifter cables, brake lines, AC lines, fuel lines, rads, condensers, water pump, air-oil separator, pads & discs, rear drop links, and coil packs. It took over three months and numerous test drives to find this 911. The rarer driver-focused (lightweight) spec and service history were my reasons for making the purchase. And, the fact it's an early car with less IMS risks.
However, it's not all good news...
* There is only one key (replacements are available from Porsche for £200-250)
* At some point the sils and door strikes will require some attention. Far from the worst I looked at and not bad enough to be mentioned on the recent, or prior, MOTs.
* The driver's seat has a small tear (visible in the interior pics).
* The clocks display the mileage as 114k vs. the actual mileage of the car (and MOT history) being 124k. The original clocks failed and were replaced. Receipt included in the history, including a log of the exact mileages when fitted. I've listed the mileage as 125k because it's a round number and I plan to use the 911 until it's sold.
The asking price takes the above into account and reflects the mileage and condition.
A reluctant sale as I try to improve my being-a-grownup-skill and shuffle to a more sensible fleet size. More pictures and information available on request. Ask away with any Qs.
