The JDM WRX STI adds some very tasty tweaks over the UK model. It has the DCCD that the 2005 on UK models have, this allows adjustment of the front and rear torque bias (in honesty I leave it in auto). It has faster steering, shorter gearing, firmer suspension. It's real party piece is the engine, it uses a higher revving, twin scroll turbo version of the EJ20 engine. While this loses some of the trademark flat four burble, it adds significant response and breadth of power. This is arguably the engine to have in an Impreza and doesn't have the "issues" of the EJ25.
I am the first UK owner of the car. Once I received the car the preventative maintenance process was started. The car was thoroughly cleaned, detailed, and under-sealed using clear underseal (the car is not caked in black waxoyl).
The was was then sent for inspection at AI Autosport, which it passed with flying colours. During the inspection the aux belts (Gates), timing belt (HKS Kevlar), RCM belt guide, pulleys, tensioners, water pump (Subaru), RCM modified oil pump, differential oil, gearbox oil, coolant, engine oil, spark plugs (NGK 7s), fuel filter (Bosch), gearbox plug, differential plugs and modine hoses were all changed. The air filter has also been replaced (K and N panel filter), as has the battery (Bosch S4 024). For added protection upper and lower front ZunSport grilles have been fitted, along with a set of Mini Flaps from Rally Flapz. Please note I may have missed something here (lol), however everything is fully documented.
The car has been expertly and safely mapped for UK Fuel (BP Ultimate 97) by Andy Forrest (it was a great road trip). It's currently running a safe 336 BHP and 336 lb/ft. It's a massively potent, responsive road car. Beyond an HKS High Power cat back exhaust system, the car is standard. The standard exhaust will come with the car, as will the old timing belt, under tray and new set of front Brembo discs.
Any JDM import stickers and toll card reader are still present for posterity. A turbo timer is also installed.
The car will come with a large collection of receipts and an owners manual.
The car's speedometer has been converted to MPH. However the cars trip still reads in kilometres. I have decided to leave this as a sign of authenticity.
Overall the car is in excellent condition and is incredibly clean.
The front does not suffer from many stone chips and the wheels only have a few minor marks on them. Just some minor age related marks.
