Why no Cerbera

on the TVRCC website poll (Greatest TVR of all time).
just shows how out of touch the club really is with the membership.
Another silly and pointless attack on the club, you could equally ask where are the Wedges, 'M's, T350s etc

The reason however is technical, the software used on the website only allows 6 questions/options to be used in a poll, simple as that.

Sorry V8 GRF but I just did a double-take on that response... Technical explanation accepted but the list from which to choose looks rather bizarre - which kind of justifies the "out of touch" remark (hardly an attack!). Surely in listing the nominations some consideration was given to the importance/significance of the cars to the marque? The first three in the list are worthy for a variety of objective reasons. But I can't see anybody other than schoolboys voting for the remaining three - and none of the above is where I'd vote.
- The Cerbera was TVR's first 'thoroughbred' car with its own engine and it catapulted TVR into the supercar league
- The Challenge Tuscans were the world's fastest and [probably] longest running one-make series (and launched the careers of many drivers)
- The S which pumped up the volume for the company to get 'critical mass' through the shopfloor
- Wheeler's revamped V8 Wedges lifted the company from the doldrums
(Maybe eliminate the race car for the Taimar Turbo, first TVR to poke a Porsche Turbo in the eye)
Seven slots filled with significant cars to make you think about casting your vote.
I have to say I agree that the Cerb, as the first car to have a bespoke TVR engine (in fact the first car to have 2 bespoke engines as the SP6 made its debut there also) has to be there way ahead of the Typhon, SP12 and even the Sag that only sold 120 odd. If its a technical reason David (most are with the website as it is inadequate) then maybe the Griff/Chim could have been lumped together and the SP12 and Typhon left out in favour of the S, Wedge family and Cerb?
Alternatively, if the website software limitations
mean that a survey cannot accomodate more than 6 options then why have a survey that by definition is pointless?

7.
Ok guys, I was just nipping off to bed when I posted that one and didn't really think deeply about the alternative models. I won't disagree with anything anyone has said above.
Most of those polls are there for a bit of fun, not a serious debate on the topic and I'd think that one falls into that category. The statement made about 'how out of touch the club is' is just ridiculous, that's why I get defensive when people post daft comments like that. Criticise the club on subjects that matter were criticism is due by all means but not on a home page poll.
Need for transparency? On a simple poll I don't think so. I think we all know who puts the polls up (not a Griff owner) and I'm sure there was no intent to insult a fabulous car just an attempt to cover a wide variety of models. I for one would have left the Typhon/T400 off and put the Cerbera in.
Maybe a thread should be started to discuss which is the greatest model, that should get a bit of debate going

I REALLY don't want to start yet another long thread of well rehearsed arguments about the merits or otherise of the TVRCC. But it's very easy to see that V8G and others actively supportive of the Club would get upset/defensive at such a comment. It had nothing to do with the poll or how it was phrased.
It was all to do with another jibe at the Club (IMHO unfairly and unjustified in relation to the poll) which suggests that the Club is entirely out of step with it's members and this is yet just another example. I'm sure The Committee do not decide the poll subjects or presentation. It's just a bit of fun on the homepage!
If the majority of the 6,000 plus members feel the Club is out of step with their wishes and interests, why don't some of the dissafected ones lobby the Committee or better still put themselves forward for nomination to one of the positions? You know it makes sense

Surely with limited options a far better list would be:
But it's only a bit of fun! It's not as though the result will be conclusive aboout which was the best. The only meaningful response would be if each respondent had owned/driven every car. Otherwise all you're going to get is Griff/Chim owners voting for Griffs/Chims, Tusc owners voting for Tuscs etc. - Tuscan/Tuscan 2
- Sagaris/T350/Tamora
- Cerbera
- Griffith/Chimaera
- Wedge
- S/S2/S3/S4
The 'winner' must end up being the one which is owned by most of the participants in the poll!! There is NO point or value to it so not worth getting worked up over...

I would vote for the Cerb and I don't own one! Many Tiv owners have had more than one model and many aspire to other models in the range so I'm not so sure this is true.Edited by Groomvroom on Saturday 5th January 17:38
