Advice sought please. I confess to not being very organised about my mail. I am careful not to be caught speeding and have to date no points on my licence.

However my ex husband did speed in my car and I have just opened mail from February that got hidden in a pile and discovered an NIP final reminder from an offence in January this year. Of course I did not reply being unaware. I have checked DVLA and there are no points in my licence. Has the MET run out of time to prosecute? I haven’t heard further... not really sure what I should do now - should I reply with his details this late?

Thanks

November is too late to commence proceedings for failing to give information and or speeding in January / February.

There’s a risk that proceedings were commenced in time and are still outstanding.

Contact the police by email or letter. Ask for the outcome.

They normally summon you to court if NIP isn't replied to. It could be in the Covid Court backlog?

Contact the police and find out more.

More likely to be stuck in the OP's mail backlog?

It's now 2020 and the Single Justice Procedure is used by the Metropolitan Police.

With a name like Girl In Car let me be the first to welcome you to this forum. I will however caution you that it is mostly frequented by men and some of these men may feel the need to email you. I would however argue that you should ignore all these messages as suspicious. Only someone man enough to ccontact you publicly should be trusted. Perhaps someone using a public forum post like this very one.
