No fault accident should I use a claims company
Discussion
Hi, I have a motorhome that is being marketed by a company. A buyer was allowed to take a road test yesterday without my knowledge. They damaged the rear light and bumber looks like in the region of 4 to 5 K to put right. This should be covered by the agents insurance, should I set on a no claims company to protect my interests as I am not sure they want to repair as new. It's a 17 plate Hymer worth around 100K.any recommendations to the best claims company would be appreciated.
Claims company seem to make a lot of their money from insane hire car costs - which surely aren't relevant to you in this case anyway?
I can't see why they would "protect your interests" more than simply going through the agent insurance yourself. After the stories I've heard of claims companies, I wouldn't touch one.
I went through third party insurers a few years back for a Ferrari repair and had no issue. I chose where it was repaired, I made sure it was done well.

I too did similar, just used the other parties insurance.
I would never personally advise the use of a claims handling company, for me they are an evil by product of the litigation age & will only ever bump up the cost of insurance more & more, they should be ignored by all until they finally fall back into oblivion.
Generally, the other insurance company only gains more/loses less by you using their services and they will sometimes give a small incentive to only use them & to not take a hire car.
One bit of advice I would give though is to make a note of all persons you speak to when about what & try to deal with just one person direct.

I think I would be insisting to the company that it should be repaired as new and then when done look for another company to market your mh. BrokenSkunk said:

Years ago wasn't there a chap on here, who used to have company dealing with no fault claims, who was highly thought of.
AnniesDad?He messaged me when I posted without prompting and was very helpful.
Haven’t seen him on here for a while tho.
Remember, when an AMC takes on a repair, all they're doing is allowing you "credit" to repair your vehicle at your expense.
You're basically asking if you should stand the cost yourself, rather than an insurer paying. AMC's also incur engineers fees on your behalf, as well as encouraging the use of expensive storage and recovery operators, and when authorising the repairs (which are still your liability), doing so at labour rates 20-40% more expensive that either your insurers or the other insurers can obtain.
And if you don't want or need a hire vehicle, where the lucrative profit is, they won;t be very interested anyway.
Here's an amazing option - have you thought of actually asking the party from whom you're expecting payment, (The fault parties insurer) to repair it? At no cost to you? And at no "credit liability" to you that could go to Court at a later date if they can't agree the costs were reasonable?
