Hi

It used to be that whenever there was a temporary average speed check on the motorway there would be signs that said average speed check. Now around Bristol they traffic enforcement cameras instead.

Anyone know if this is just random or the new way of signing them?

Thanks

Does it really matter what they are called or are you simply curious?

Could be that they are for multi-purposes.

To detect phone use/seatbelt infractions etc.

Nope, they’re still equally annoying!

Just wondered if it was a conscious change of description to make them slightly less obvious.

Everything is being sneaked downwards. I read recently of a temporary speed limit imposed by Essex CC for reasons of roadworks or somesuch... but now that those reasons have gone, guess what, the temp limit has been made permanent.

This is happening everywhere you go, 20 is the new 30, totally unnecessary on most roads it is used on but you can see the point I guess.

I have seen this happen so many times where limits have been put in place for long term roadworks then they stay anyway, I dont know why, I doubt some of these roads see any accidents but some berk somewhere will have crunched data to prove that going slower there HAS to be a good thing.

Have you checked, or is that supposition? ( reference the ‘I read somewhere’, and ‘or some such’)
