I wonder what rules there are about the police using force?

A battons strike to their knee would have seen them drop pretty quick, but would all the spectators all suddenly started to bray about racism/ police violence etc? (See recent events in Ely about what parts of society are like)

And of course would it be proportionate?

However, my sis in law was briefly a prison officer, and from her chats about training I did think the police would have an above layman knowledge of fisticuffs and self defence.

And I feel two on one should have been more effective in coordinating their efforts.

It did seem like they couldn't really be bothered, but as above the crowd could have turned quote easily imo.

Christ. How bloody useless?

Officer cabbage would have been justified in using whatever force was necessary to stop the assault and arrest the offender.

Hopefully a serving officer can comment, however from a personal point of view if I saw that I'd have no problems with stepping in and putting that lump on the ground, hand on chest, leg sweep from behind, job done.

The annoying thing about this is all the general public….I would wade in and help the officer.

Please don't harm police officers. Those lumps cost us money.

Well there we go then. I imagine it’s much easier commenting on it anonymously on the internet without knowing much about it.

What's more depressing is the feral scum just stood there watching/howling like dogs thinking it's all funny...what a dreadful state of affairs.
