Average speed cameras, are they fake?
Discussion
They do function but quite what the tolerance is for being caught speeding, I don't know. Seems 58 is enough to win some driving points.

There was a chap who got banned using the orwell bridge at 70MPH (Has been 60MPH for ages, protected by average speed cameras). Twice a day, for 10 days before he started getting the letters!
I believe the new A14 cameras between stowmarket and bury in the new roadworks have caught a few as well.
Just set the limiter for 53 and don't worry about it!

I’ve never heard of anyone getting points by speeding through these. The amount of times I’ve entered these areas too fast and set my cruise to 53mph and yet never received points.
Do they work, are they fake?
Set cruise at +10% +1mph and you will never get a ticket.Do they work, are they fake?

I got a SAC for averaging 35 in a 30 in a village near where i live.Average speed cameras had not been up long but totally my fault for not seeing them.
Course instructor did tell me that meant i had been doing 40 in places..to which i said on that basis i had been doing 30 in places…

Or less in fact Course instructor did tell me that meant i had been doing 40 in places..to which i said on that basis i had been doing 30 in places…

My fault totally I got done by one few years back just a few mph over the average speed limit on an empty road & not even excessive speed either but I have the 3 points on my licence another few years until they clear...they are real enough!
Typically they put them where someone has sadly been killed on the road or accident hotspots.
Up to you if you obey or not.....they can do you for being just 1 mph over the limit if they want to at any time until the NIP arrives the 10 + 2 is just a guideline it can be revoked without warning anytime they want so best to stick to the limits & keep your licence!

Not one single person though can produce a ticket showing a lower speed.Typically they put them where someone has sadly been killed on the road or accident hotspots.

^ Yes you can sometimes hide from them if you realise you were going to fast. The problem is not knowing how they're paired up and finding something to hide behind/alongside. They're a curse.
The newer ones (possibly all of them?) can at least technically all pair up with each other. It sez - or used to say - on their website. Somewhatfoolish said:
