Max of two years in prison. Didn't realise either. I wonder how they would know if you've researched the defendant though? Assuming you don't do what he did and tell others...

No doubt this big gob decided to decide to be the judge and barrister himself and "work the room" to be the big I am.
I can actually see this based on how stupid and naive locals are down here in the South West.
When you say you can't research the defendant how on earth do you manage to NOT do that when you know there names.

It must be extremely difficult to make judgement on someone when you feel you are not in possession of all the facts, information, knowledge, or understanding.
While taking the direction of the proceedings is going to be paramount. I find myself struggling to not immediately research further into the links above and I had no vested interest at all.
Jury duty is a heavy burden.
It is the responsibility of the prosecution and of the defence to make those representations, not some ‘knot-hole-through-the-fence’ look at social media. While taking the direction of the proceedings is going to be paramount. Are jurors not allowed to ask questions?
I was on a jury where some jurors wanted questions answered during deliberations. The clerk went to the judge and we reassembled in court to hear the judge tell us we had all the information we needed. And out we went again. You're not Perry Mason or Columbo. You are a lay person whose opinion is sought after hearing two sides of an argument. If you dick about with the process, you are in contempt of court.

You're not supposed to be in possession of all the facts, information, knowledge, or understanding. You're supposed to make a decision based on the evidence presented in court supplemented by any information, knowledge, or understanding provided by the judge. While taking the direction of the proceedings is going to be paramount. I've done jury service a few times and they make it abundantly clear that you can't do your own research.
