Need To Clone Car Key

Surely if he doesn’t have the keys, he can’t clone them. If keys could be cloned without the original, car theft would be rampant…
Keys can be cloned without the original, that’s how they get stolen. Car theft is indeed rampant but in this case it’ll be legal albeit difficult. My son can prove ownership of the car.Nigel_O said:

Manufacturers in the USA keep a copy of the key programming linked to the VIN number. If you go to a Ford dealer, have the VIN & have proof of ownership (Title in your name), they can clone you a key.

He will have to sign a waiver pretending he has lost the keys. Which gets recorded. If you go to a Ford dealer, have the VIN & have proof of ownership (Title in your name), they can clone you a key.

But if the wife still has the original keys what's going to stop her doing the same thing to take the truck again....Until he takes the vehicle to the dealer to have the original keys deleted from the vehicle.
She didn’t take the truck. There was an agreement made through the lawyers that she could keep the truck for 6 months following the separation. That was up on 1 July but she hasn’t returned it.I very much doubt that she’d take it back, that’d be theft. Maybe he could fit an immobiliser.

He could always just use the key to the house he must still have and get the spare if needed.
No need for stealth tactics.
How do you, me or anyone on here know the OP's son's personal situation, maybe his ex has moved out and has another place, could be a hundred different reasons. You do have a habit of posting lots of unhelpful utter bo***cks on hereNo need for stealth tactics.
