Carried out U-turn where there was a no u-turn sign…..
Discussion
OP, you may need to check out the place on Google Street View for any recent imagery or even drive down there again to check out the junction and see if there is a camera. That wouldn't rule out any patrol that may have been stationed at that particular junction at that particular time, however. I'm also yet to come across a U-turn camera, unless red light cameras can double up as them.

As the title says, I carried out an illegal u-turn where there was prohibitive signage present.
Do u-turn cameras usually have cameras and if so what penalties do I have on my way?
Many thanks.
I think it largely depends on how you did it, if you mashed the pedal and drifted round in a perfect arc you could get a commendation from his royal kingness, you may even get an OBE especially if you do is with one hand whirling out of the window! I know this to be true, bloke down the pub said it, before doing an amazing series of doughnuts in the car park, also all the girls knickers just fell off??Do u-turn cameras usually have cameras and if so what penalties do I have on my way?
Many thanks.

This wins the Internet for me today

In all seriosuness, I did a very naughty U turn, 180 drift from stand-still, into a smooth slide up an empty DC with the other half of the DC standstill bumper to bumper traffic. I was waiting to get reported by some angry dashcammer but nothing happened - must have had 100 witnesses :-) Nothing from the Queen either :-(

Upon realising my illegal manoeuvre, I tried to see if there were any nearby cameras, though given traffic was still moving I cannot comfortably confirm if I’m in the clear.I’ve checked Google StreetView and it seems the no u-turn signs were recently updated (within the past 4 months) to include subordinate signs warning of cameras - though I have no idea if that is intended to scare motorists or if it’s substantiated by the erection of a new camera.
The old images from Google also support my view that there were no cameras present, though I don’t even know what one would like or where it would be placed to catch law-breakers like me lol.

Even if there is a camera there, it could well not have been working at the time. Why worry about it, unless you get something through the post?
Very true. I am mainly worried that I may receive points if caught…….London? that might be a different matter. Cameras bloody everywhere.

Well you might do, but worrying about it isn't going to make any difference to it happening. I just speak from experience of thinking I'd been flashed by a speed camera many years ago and spending weeks worrying about it, and of course nothing ever came of it. When I have been caught by a speed camera, I'd not even seen the camera! So the worrying doesn't help!Griffith4ever said:

In a non-PAS Griff with a slightly-jerky cam, using the rear wheels is by far the easiest way of turning the thing 180 degrees! ecs0set said:
