So an NIP has just arrived for me in the post for speeding.
However, I am on holiday.
It is illegal for anyone else to complete that form and post it.
I won't be back within the 28 days.
What do I do?
Thanks

Get a solicitor to do it. £££££££££££££
Have someone photograph it and text it to you. Then complete it and text it back or email to the police.
Or do it when you get back at the risk of the police not accepting the late submission, They are likely to accept the late submission unless your holiday is very long.
With the magic of telecommunications and the Internet, it isn't going to be difficult to comply...if you really want to. You did manage to post here.

Use a scanner app. Get someone to scan the document on their phone, send it to you. You print it out and complete the form and either you return it directly to the authorities or send a scanned image back to someone in the UK who can print it out and send it onwards.

The last few s.172’ I’ve done for Clients - I’ve been able to complete online (many different Forces) without the need to trundle up to a post box.

This, I would have thought, would be you best option given the circumstances.

Yeah, Im not going to be back within 28 days, and I don't fancy myself an extra 6 points and £1000 fine for not filling in the form.

My last NIP had a weblink I could go and fill it all in, took 2 maybe 3 seconds to do, just do that

Why would you risk the added stress/hassle/fine/points for not doing it in time?

I figured you were probably looking for a way not to fill in the form and then get away with the requirement to fill it in. It doesn't work like that. There are statutory defences, however, you don't qualify for those. The holiday is not one of them.

I AM NOT A LAWYER:

When they have arrived and I was at sea I used to leave them until my return, and send the form back with a polite covering letter and evidence of my time out of the country. Discharge book (record of sea service) & airline boarding card.
Once I was married my wife sorts it all out.

I'd imagine a copy of your hotel booking & airline boarding cards with a letter explaining that no one was opening your post in your absence will do the trick.
On more than one occasion they did not prosecute the offence, on others I received no penalty for late submission.

They’re online too aren’t they? Just need the access code off the letter.

So what would happen if you've gone on holiday for a month or more, and the NIP was laying on your doormat all that time?

this was my thought too - we're now taking long holidays and whilst we always have a housesitter they'll also not be checking our mail eek

How do you know you have received a NIP if you are not there to open the letter?
