thought i'd get an opinion from the PH hive mind

I've recently won a SCC against another party (nominal amount under £50) & they've emailed asking for bank details so they can make a transfer

the issue is- i dont trust them as far as i can throw them (they were weapon grade ar$es, which is why we ended up going to SCC in the first place) ...they already have my name, address & im wary of them also having my bank details- as i went through a case of identity theft last year (someone used my NI with HRMC & it was a total nightmare to eventually sort) an episode i dont wish to repeat

i offered paypal, which they've refused & on the judgement, they have other options way to pay (cheque/ postal order/ cash- registered mail) but as so far they are also refusing

am i just being overly cautious?

I asked a similar question on here a while back ( not court case won but money back from a company ) to be told I was worryingly unnecessarily, no fraud could happen and otherwise how would they pay me ?
That worked out fine.

If they were as industrial-grade as you say, I'd request a Certified Bank Draft so they can't play sillu bu**ers!

If you are that cautious about them, why on earth did you take them to SCC for such a small sum?

Anyways, setup a Monzo account for this, get the payment, then close it.

Our company bank account details are on the bottom of every invoice. I'm not sure if anybody still uses cheque books but they used to be on there as well.

I'm curious as to what kind of fraud might happen if people get hold of them?

With name, address and bank details, the only thing they can do (and to be wary of) is setting up a direct debit.

But the direct debit guarantee guarantees against this sort of thing, so it would only be the hassle of disputing etc.
