I fully accept the non-use of a mobile while driving, so how the hell is this ok ?

I agree modern screens in cars are daft.

Madness isn’t it? The first time I drove a car that was predominantly touchscreen I nearly drove into the central reservation. The last time I moved my phone from the central cup holder to underneath the armrest, I managed to do it without running over any small children, killing any newts or offending a minority.

That's acceptable... As long as you keep two hands on the wheel.

Double distracting when the screensaver kicks in..

Too many distractions in cars these days, bad for road safety.

2 of them are "mirrors"
1 of them is the usual speedo type panel
1 for the passenger
1 main screen

So not massively different to other cars.

Basically, don't pick on my Honda e!!!!! argue

It takes 3 stabs of a tiny icon in my X1 to turn on seat heating to the low setting. Several seconds of distraction and not focusing on the road ahead. This isn't progress, it's dangerous. The voice control is rubbish, "turn on seat heating", response; "setting route navigation to Hemel Hempstead"!

It's unlikely that I'll ever drive a car built this century, so these big screens do look confusing to me.
Are they easier to use in a Left Hand Drive car if folks are right handed?

Yup, I don't know where this myth came from. You can do pretty much anything on your phone when driving as long as it isn't ditracting you from driving. You can touch it too. You just can't hold the phone in your hands.
