We have a driveway, but it only fits one car. Because of that, we park our second car slightly on the pavement directly outside our home. We avoid parking fully in the road because our neighbour’s drive is directly opposite (they can fit two cars), and doing so would make it difficult for them to get in and out. We’re careful to leave plenty of space for anyone who needs to get past on the pavement. Whilst not prefect, I don't I think they way we park would make it onto "parked like a @@@@" on FB.

On a few occasions, we’ve found the wing mirror pushed in overnight. We have good CCTV, and after checking the footage I’ve identified the person doing it. He comes by late at night, seemingly on his way home from work, and actually crosses the road specifically to interfere with our car. He could easily cross the road a bit further along after passing our car. During the day, when he walks past on his way to work, he mostly crosses over before he reaches our car.

I’ve now worked out his routine, so I’m planning to speak to him the next time he passes. I’m just interested in what others would do or say to him in this situation?

Wouldn't it be easier just to fold in the mirror yourself, therefore denying him the satisfaction??
Short of beating the bloke up, why waste energy on something like this?

In what way is it vandalised, are they not designed to be pushed in?

I’ve pushed wing mirrors in on cars parked on the pavement making walking past difficult.

Fair point, perhaps "wing-mirror adjuster" is a better title. What I didn't mention is it's my wife's car. I use the drive as mine needs charging. Yes she could fold it in, and I have suggested this, but yeah she doesn't listen to me. I guess next time we need to spec a car with auto folding mirror for her.

It's still out of order though and he's targeted her car many times now. I would just like to know why the vendetta? He passes other similarly parked cars and doesn't touch them.

Another good point. I tend to post in here more than elsewhere, so I guess I just went with instinct. Where should it be?

Also he doesn't just "push" it in. He hammers it in (or out depending on the cars direction) and will one day probably break it.

If your wife can't be arsed just go out and do it yourself, then go and fold it out again in the morning.

LOL. I was waiting for the pic request.

Maybe I will start folding it in for her. I'm never up early enough to fold it back out in time though. She'll think he's started doing it full time.

He'll probably start letting her tyres down if he hasn't got her wing mirror to punch.

Great idea to talk to him. Will teach him a lesson on consequences. If things escalate make sure you dont have a helpful neighbour with cctv

However, also, We are a bit sensitive in this country so actually damage to anyones car is criminal damage. You could record his face from inside the car and report to police. You will demonstrate with photo the damage done to your car. Worse for him smile

How about one night park the car on the road but not on the pavement. See if the mirror is still bashed.

Others can suggest next steps if so.

If the CCTV is good then join a local Facebook group and plaster him on it with lots of angry emoji faces and how you work really hard to afford the car and its your wife s pride and joy being abused by this scumbag vandal. That s what they do on the group for my town anyway hehe
