Had an ongoing issue and wondered if someone else had with a Beneficial.

I made I have tried to get them to stop and the other day I did their survey which has made the calls worse using random numbers from all over.

Anyone else had an issue with them sounds like India but I have found a uk address and email address for them.

Looks like scam calls. Who are they?
Block them and report to the Ombudsman.

I never answer unknown numbers.
Do they leave a message?
Is it an 0345 number?

I used to get loads amd loads of calls from Beneficial, similar to yourself OP in that they'd come up with all sorts of national numbers, local numbers and i think even mobile numbers if i recall correctly.

I never did their crappy survey, they were at one point really pissing me off. Id always block the number each time, they just change to another of course. I remember once actually speaking to the person (instead of hanging up) and being told if I do the survey they'd stop ringing me constantly. Through principle I told them to basically bugger off.

And then they must have tailed off and stopped. In fact, it was only through reading your post that i recalled i ised to get them. Haven't had them call now for at least a year.

This is timely, as I seem to be getting calls from these wkers at least once or twice per week at the moment.

The numbers are random, so I can’t block them, and I don’t know who it is until I answer, but once I answer I can always tell it’s them because there is always a delay, and a strange beep, as presumably they try to connect my line to a person.

I’ve tried everything to get rid of them, asking nicely, telling them to fk off, telling them I will report them to the TPS, even just staying silent and seeing how long they before they hang up, but they just keep calling and saying they want me to answer their survey questions, which of course I won’t do.

If you Google ‘Beneficial Opinion’ they are absolutely despised and have plagued thousands of people with repeated calls.

The key to this is to change your attitude and engage them if you have time. Obviously if you are busy working or with family that is different.

Are you able to call them back on the local numbers? If you have unlimted minutes and they are not national rate or premium numbers, call them repeatedly. On the bog - call them, waiting for a train - call them, picking the kids up and are a few minutes early - call them.

Skew the conversation to football, cars, ask the men if they wear womens underwear, their favourite sexual position....

Moderator edit: no naming and shaming nor amateur sleuthing please

Some interesting info at this link - https://www.advantagemi.co.uk/post/nuisance-calls - about a legit market-research company that ended up (wrongly) taking a lot of the flak for these muppets.

It's funny you should say that, but there was an article on 'This is Money' that I found where they recommended talking to them and wasting as much of their time as possible, as this was the ultimate weapon against them.

If you just keep hanging up on them, they instantly move on to another call, and your number will keep being auto-dialled by their system repeatedly until they get something from you.

If you waste their time for as long as possible each time, they will delete your number from the system, as having their time wasted is bad for them. Time is money etc etc.

That's what I do if any scammers phone me and I'm working - phone on speakerphone and just answer nonsense to whatever they ask (ie. just answer "Yes" to every question they ask including your name, start spouting random facts at them, etc.). Their model only works because each phone call that answers but doesn't engage and generate them money averages a few seconds so by me bumping up the average a fraction costs them money.

Found the time wasting tactic worked for me with one of these “You’ve been involved in an accident in the past 5 years”

After just hanging up all the time, I got bored so told them I had.

After telling the initial operator it was a really nasty accident and I was killed, they passed me over to someone to take more details (Not the brightest bunch this lot).

After going through a complete fictional accident situation for about 10 minutes which involved a cow and a cyclist, they asked for my reg number, P155 OFF.

At this point the penny started to drop alittle but I was getting bored now so just laughed and hung up.

Not received any call like that since.

You won't receive any more calls from them because in their IT system you are marked as dead laugh

yes
"Accident? Yes, horrific. Life changing & totally the other guy's fault. I lost both arms and I'm now completely blind. Could you hold on whilst I find somewhere safe to pull over? I'm driving."

I said you need to talk to my dad, hang on I'll get him. Might be a while, he's on crutches upstairs.

The a quick shouted conversation with 'dad' and wait for hang up. Usually 2 to 5 minutes.

Calls stop after a while.

posts above....

This seems to be the correct way of dealing with these people
Good old-fashioned British taking the piss
I started doing this, as the home phone number was plagued by them. 4 a day at least - It stopped over a period of about a month…

Don't hang up, waste their time. Their business model is based on being ignored. When you hang up or block numbers you make it easier for them to contact that little old lady with dementia.

I use a false name, address, birthday, bank account details to waste their time. I know all the scams!

There are millions of us, we outnumber them, we can win!

Very similarly, I told an ambulance chaser I'd been decapitated. "Decapitated?" he said, but wasn't able to let go. At the point I started to tell him that my head was retrieved from the gutter by the road and surgically reattached on the asphalt I couldn't maintain my composure as he signed off with a "you fking ."

I used to work in poluce ops and calls were taken with a standard respknse.....
(Insert your local force name ) how can I help?
Itstarted their confusion...
You are police?
Yes, calls to this number are being diverted to us as part of an investigation. Who are you, what are your details, why are you calling?
They hung up. Calls stopped.
Nowadays I just let the call go to voicemail, funnily no messages left unless from a genuine caller. I have put some on block but the numbers vary. I used to have fun wasting their time but don’t bother any more.
