I caught the news report today of the interesting Scottish extradition hearing of Nicholas Rossi aka Arthur Knight.

Seems the US want Nicholas Rossi extradited on a rape charge, but Knight is claiming that's not him, Rossi is dead, and he's merely a wheel chair bound Irish orphan with no family history who has never visited the USA.

His defence is saying he is too ill to extradite, but a doctor who examined him says she doesn't know why he's in a wheelchair, there's nothing wrong with his legs!

I wonder how it'll go.

It’s a very interesting case. I saw a news piece yesterday and he seems a very odd character.

How can something like this drag on for so long? I doubt anyone is buying his story.

The weirdest part his new wife seems to believe he’s Arthur Knight, a cross between Alfred from Batman, Oscar Wilde and Toad of Toad Hall.
He must be for real as he tried to stand up and then fell back down, apparently he claims to be Irish but the accent isn’t quite perfected, swings between upper class British and a Boston plastic Paddy

So its ok for us to potentially agree to extradition of a UK citizen to the US, but not vice versa?

Whilst I agree in general with this sentiment, autistic teenagers hacking FBI computers come to mind especially, I’m not sure this case I view as too problematic. Albeit without being that close to the details.

Probably should have said in the case of the US army wife that knocked that lad off his bike and killed him.

One bit did make me laugh...

"On January 5, 2023, his application to be released on bail was refused. He claimed he was being "taunted" by remand prisoners at HM Prison Edinburgh singing John Denver’s song "Leaving on a Jet Plane" to him"

He's had a bit of bad luck too.

According to him, his tattoos only match those on record in the US, because someone tattooed him in hospital in Scotland when he was in a coma.

What's the chances of that!

happens all the time up here, go in for a routine operation and come out with full mural on your back of sponge bob square pants and Dave Courtney on a magic unicorn defending a castle from Sam Smith.

It's a fascinating case, there must be some deep mental illness but hopefully he'll on a plane heading over the Atlantic fairly soon.

Some of his interviews, available on YouTube, are interesting.

He seems like a massive grifter making ludicrous claims and comedic attempts to avoid facing up to his responsibilities. And to think we the tax oayer are paying for all this nonsense, as we did saving his life when he was in hospital with Covid. Disgraceful how long it’s gone on.
